How do you support new subscribers in new email lists

So I understand how the strategy of monetizing content and staying around 30% paid 70% free content. However, I'm launching my website in the coming days/week and I'm trying to understand, if I get 2 3 4 whatever single digit subscribers and then my list starts to grow...aren't some people going to subscribe to the list during the week that I promote paid content? I hate to sound naive, but I'm not understanding how I should send content to my small list as I try to grow it?

Thank you to anyone who responds advance

Don't be afraid of people unsubscribing from your list, that is how any business goes in world. Even if you send quality and exclusive content, people will unsubscribe anyway.

Just keep your rate of subscription higher than rate of unsubscribes. Track your results, when you send various emails to your list. How they react and take action?

You will soon reach, your sweet spot.... more data you have, more confident you'll be to scale.

I'm not quite sure that I understand...

Do you mean "aren't some people going to unsubscribe to the list during the week that I promote paid content"?

  • You should set up a sequence of emails that automatically go out to people who sign up to your list. That means whenever someone subscribers, they get the first email in that sequence, and then subsequent emails that have already been set up to go out.

Sounds like you're just sending broadcast emails to your list.

On another note: this nonsense of 30% paid content and 70% free content doesn't work as well as many lemmings would have you believe.

If you have a product that will help the people on your list, and it is better than your free content (which it should be) then why on earth would you spend 70% of the time giving them crap, and 30% giving them the best stuff?

This boggles my mind. But I suppose we do live in a world where most people think in groups, rather than as individuals.

Be careful who you listen to. The majority are always wrong. Hence the reason they are referred to as the mediocre majority.

Maybe you are not clear on the capabilities of an email service like getresponse or aweber yet.
You can set up a sequence of emails in an autoresponder to sell you stuff.
And you can blast out newsletters on an adhoc basis for promotions.
And this is just scratching the surface on what they can do.

I'm sure your needs can be met with a good service provider.
Just chat up the service rep and usually the solution is right under your nose.

Just sell to them as soon as they subscribe. Start the relationship off that way, and let them know what they're getting into. Don't be around the bush with people... they'll beat around the unsubscribe link in your emails.

I sell something in every email. Alot of people do. Works great for us. There is no industry standard way about how to do email marketing. Do what makes money for YOU.
