If the advertiser competition for a niche site keyword is represented on a 5 star scale, and the number is equal to average search volume - doesn't say daily or monthly, I assume monthly but maybe that is wrong...

Would you go with a keyword of

2/5 49500

or

1/5 2400
0/5 1300
3/5 2900

------

Also, what if a keyword contains an apostrophe? Pretty much screwed using it as a URL.... In this example the 0/5 one has no stars and a nice 1300 search volume but it contains an apostrophe so can't use it as a URL. Can use all the letter without the URL but not sure how that would work in the Google search.

Advertiser's competition usually refers to adwords competing ads/sites but it sounds like you are talking about general competition of indexed sites, can you please clarify if you are talking about advertiser competition or general competition. Let us know if you are trying to find a better keyword to bid on or to rank for, that would make it clear. Apostrophe will effect your result but not that much because google recognizes it. What you can do is buy a domain (without apostrophe obviously) and optimize it the page with keyword in its original form (i.e with apostrophe) that would do the job. For instance your targeted keyword is Advertiser's Competition (with apostrophe) you can buy the domain AdvertisersCompetition.com (or whatever TLD is available) and optimize it with the keyword Advertiser's Competition, I hope it helps.
