I wish to build a professional interior design website to promote and expand my core interior decoration business in India. Also will be happy if the site could earn some additional income through affiliate sales( featuring products like home decor etc) I have already got a domain name for the same.

Can i build a professional wordpress website with all the features needed for a successful affiliate business on my own?? or shall i get it build by an expert developer..what would be prospects of such a site? Can any one help me?

Sorry I misread your post. It's fine for here.

I would also agree, maybe for your first site look to have it done by a professional but as you go along it would be a good idea to get the basics of wordpress etc as it will save you money in the long run!

I would hire someone professional to do the designing for you. This is what I would do when getting started. It will take you a long time to do this on your own if you don't have any web design experience. But as time goes by, you do want to learn how to edit your website like how to change links and graphics.

I think Wordprese theme are enought.
I have some websites build by professionist (for my commodity industries) and the result is not different from a free template

Maybe your so called professionals weren't too professional. If you pay for a website it should be high quality, not a free theme chucked together.

    Hi onlinebuzz77,

I would hire a developer. You'll save money in the long-run.

You could certainly read through many online tutorials (all free) and learn how to do it yourself, but the learning curve is steep, and good design and marketing skills take time and practice to learn. It sounds like you have a good brick and mortar business. I think you need to showcase it with a good website.

A few things to keep in mind, and these are just preliminary ideas, but be sure your designer implements them for you:

    1. Mobile Friendly. You want a responsive website (able to be used on all devices) or you want to direct your traffic (automatically) to a mobile version. I'd opt for a good responsive site - lots less work.

    2. Social Integrations. You need to use this site to grow a social media pretense. You'll need it designed in order to encourage content syndication as well as platform growth (people following your social accounts).

    3. List Building. Ensure that they include a list building strategy. The idea being to collect a large audience who want to purchase your products or learn more about them. Lists of this nature (where you're site is geared to selling and not giving away free info) are harder to grow, but even small lists are very, very valuable.

    Food for thought!

    Cheers,

    Tom

Thank you all got the valuable suggestions !! Yes I have a brick n mortar business, but just a start up not an established one, and hence wish to give it online presence... also wanted the site to be such that it can generate affiliate income too ( in the niche of home decor) so when I am not getting enough business for my brick mortar business, at least I can make some money through affiliate marketing through my site featuring home decor products.

BTW how is the home decor or home interior design niche from affiliate marketing/ google adsense revenue point of view? How much budget I should keep aside to build a website with all the features discussed above?
