List Building With PPV?

So, first things first I'm no newbie to IM, i know the basics to say the least.
Been studying all about Email Marketing, List Building and Copywriting for a good few months now, and after recently depositing 500$ into my new 50OnRed account, am ready to get my list built.
Niche: Weight loss (No, not because it's the one that everyone goes to, it's because it's the one I know alot, and I mean ALOT about .. it being a passion in my life and all)
So, I got a couple of question for you peeps out there who know their stuff about PPV:
NOTE: My PPV ad, displayed in the window itself, is going to be the squeeze page itself, which is hosted on Leadpages.
1) What do you think would be the best thing to offer on that squeeze page? Would a typical lead magnet do fine (report, with the headline and the usual stuff you see on a typical squeeze page)?
2) What conversion rate do you usually achieve with squeeze pages that are the PPV ad themselves? I ask because I did some testing yesterday, and got like a 2% conversion rate. (Which actually sucks to me, because views ain't cheap in this area you know! You're talking 0.03$ a view .. So with that conversion rate ON A PROVEN TO BE HIGH CONVERTING SQUEEZE PAGE, I'm gonna be grumpy! Haha)
