I get more done using THIS METHOD (pic of my whiteboard)more effective than a list or business plan

I have always used 'To-do' lists and love the idea of ticking things off as the day went on.

The only thing was, I generally started adding to the list rather than ticking tasks off (am I the only one who does that? lol)

I am also a big believer in having a business plan so I know exactly what I need to focus on to achieve my goals (reminder: so many people do NOT have any sort of business plan...eek!)

Then I read that that we are much better able achieve our goals if we SEE them.

Last month I tried it by drawing my goals on my whiteboard.....and it really worked!! I got loads done.

This month I have done the same and am on track.

All I use is a normal whiteboard. I drew a picture of me in the middle and then wrote all the things I wanted to achieve by July 31st accompanied by a drawing.

This is mine below. As you can see you don't need to be an artist...and I think that you can be as creative as you like. The idea is just to give your brain a picture of what you want to do.

I use this for my business goals but then I also incorporated my fitness and development goals as well.

It really has helped to keep me focussed.

It might work for you as well. Personally I think it is much better than just writing stuff down. I can see at a glance where I want to be by the 1st July.

Does anybody else do anything similar?

Joe

Knowing the exact thing what you want to the very minute details, helps in achieving them faster. If you can make your mind clear of your targets by drawing pictures, you should do that. Some will get that clarity by writin stories, some write poems. Whatever type of creativity it is, point is just to make your mind clear to the absolute details of your dreams and then you will achieve them very soon.

You are right...it is whatever works best for you, as the individual.

This has been the most effective format for me.I love it

Being able to look up at my whiteboard and seeing what I want to achieve at the end of the month is a brilliant way to motivate me.

    Horses for courses, I guess.

Whether you see goals or your read them, as long as you've got a list of things that have to be done, then that's all what matters.

If you are too lazy to complete them or you forget about them for one reason or another, then you need work on yourself and become more disciplined.

    Well done Joe
A great tactic to make things going in the right way.
What I would add is the great strategy in your business. Your end goal. What are you going to achieve in the end?
When that is done, you will be able to streamline your tactic and everything you do will strive toward your end goal!

    Keep it up!

Great post, TS. I agree completely with the need for a TO DO LIST.

    But...

One thing I learned that truly EXPLODED my PRODUCTIVITY: do my list, the night or a day before.

This gives me time to thing through what I need to do

This also gives me time to break down tasks.

This tweak increases EFFICIENCY and EFFECTIVENESS

Excellent post - thanks for this tip. I find that I sometimes struggle with organization and motivation.

Today when I write my to-do list I will put on "set up a white board".

As mentioned above different methods work for different people. My method has been to write down goals, usually on index cards. The result is that my desk gets cluttered with these, very messy.
