Started with nothing and this is what I have

So, I'm pretty broke. that's what kids do!!! so I haven't got any expendable income (queue violins) however, This is what I've created so far.

main website
The Bloke Report Daily - this will be a daily/weekly email (which would be better?)
@blokereport
www.facebook.com/blokereport

So I've spent roughly £67 setting all of this up. The wife doesn't know! shh!!

what I'm asking is, how can I (rather quickly) increase my traffic to my sites with the lowest possible outlay. I know I'm probably asking for the philosophers stone and it may not be available but I'm sure there must be a way.

hard work, time, quality content, seo all work but I guess the only other way is money.

Is there anything I'm missing? is there a way I can raise enough traffic to create a self sustaining website without a massive outlay?

Thanks guys and girls

You need to invest more. Plain and simple. It you need some more expendable income, try setting aside some every month in a budget? Just ideas here, but yeah, you'll need to spend more to make more in the long run.

Thanks for your feedback, lets say I set aside £20 a week, would this be sufficient?

What would be the best avenues to follow with these? buying an email list, google adwords, FB, twitter? Whats been your most successful stream so far?

As Zodiax said, you really gotta pay to play this game. Nothing comes free.

With your current situation your best bet would be focusing on seo to get a high rank on google. But even then you would have to wait months if not years (depending on niche) to actually see decent result that could make you money.

I've been using social media on http://www.Like4Like.org and have gotten quite a few shares for about $20 a time. Focus on getting retweets on Twitter, repins on Pinterest & shares on Google + to increase your free daily traffic over time. Keep adding great content and keep using this forum to get the best knowledge and traffic available today

this forum has been a godsend so far! Its amazing.

I've taken all your advice on board and will bite the bullet!

I plan to create some tighter niche blogs down the road, I just want this running smoothly for a few months before I venture out.

I know this is by no means a get rich quick idea I hope to be seeing a revenue stream in about six months!

The fastest way to get traffic would be through paid traffic strategies (Sola Ads, PPC, etc). I understand your situation. It's difficult to go about getting traffic this way if you don't have the money to invest in these strategies. Here are some suggestions in order to get that initial money to invest

    1) Take a part time job
    2) Borrow money from a friend
    3) Sell unused items in your house

The best way is via solo ads or facebook ads but as your a bit tight for cash I would suggest using you tube as a traffic source since its free and very targeted. Create a video solving a particular problem and list on you tube with targeted keywords in your title.

    What's your niche? Sub niche?
    Create your blog around that.
Start to create good content with video and text. Curate your content on various social media and other related places.
    Do it regulary with value.
It will take some time, but eventually you will see result.
Leverage yourself and your content as time go by.

If you focus and don't jump from technique to technique, this can and will help you out.
And if you do save some capital to invest in your business, you will see results quicker.

If you don't want to spend money, it will take more time to get success. However if you are dedicated enough you will taste it.

Considering your website niche, you should really start focusing on social media including facebook, twitter etc specially twitter.

Sorry, but I was thinking your site could have been built on WordPress? In addition, what is it that you wish to achieve with your website?

Have enough traffic in order to sell ads?? Not sure what niche you are in as I have visited your site and FB but still unsure.

You may need pay abit for PPC or FB Ads for traffic..

    Hope it helps

It was built on WordPress. Its a place to waste time. Theres barely any place on the Web so find random things to look at so I thought thay could be my niche!

I might be doing it wrong but if you dont try you dont know do you!!

Youtube! If you don't have a good quality camera, save up for that and invest in that. Record yourself giving your opinion on those news articles. If you have an interesting personality, this can go big pretty fast.

The Bloke Report sounds like a catchy channel name to me

Or , build up your social media following. Spend your ad budget on the Facebook advertising platform, and build up your likes.

Thanks, It's been an idea for a while now. Youtube videos sound like a great idea. I'd be a bit nervous about it! lol. I guess they dont have to be too long do they?

Have you experienced twitter advertising? would that be worthwhile? I'm getting a few favourites and shares but only have 41 followers so far!!

I've amassed 150 views in 2 days so far with minimal spend. I'm not looking for explosive growth but this is something I truely love spending my free time on.

You guys are great so far. I'd love to see what you host!

    Hi

I would cut your cloth according to your means

I started my online business a year ago this month with a very low budget. I had to concentrate on finding free targeted traffic. You know - the thing everyone says doesn't exist?

    Well - it does!
    This is what I did...

    1. I started up a blog, which I hosted on my own domain like you did.
    2. I posted DAILY about what I am doing and told the real story with no punches pulled - the successes and the failures
    3. I opened a Twitter account and Tweeted my blog posts 3 times a day with revised titles. I also followed all relevant Tweets and built up a good following as well as replying and communicating
    4. I joined various forums like WF, and left valid comments on posts.
    5. I opened a fan page on FB, like you did, and did exactly the same thing - without putting links on FB (FB hates you linking stuff - although there are a few work-arounds
    6. I set up an opt-in form on my blog, and an auto responder to build my list
    7. I tracked everything and watched results - tweaking and playing about
    8. I created a squeeze page to promote a free high value offer on my blog, which led on to upsells and higher priced congruent (similar) offer increasing from $19.95 up to $2000 and more.
    9. I found myself a mentor who enjoys helping people succeed - who has already become successful
    10. Finally - I focussed on 2 traffic methods and did them every day. - and I reinvested every cent for the first year in paid advertising as well. Mainly Solo Ads

    Hope this helps?
    Richard

Thanks Richard, Thats just the kind of advice I've been looking for.

      A few questions.
FB links, so don't post my page there? just repost content already on there?
a squeeze page? is this like in the affiliate page?
A Mentor? I know this is a great place to start, should I wait for them to approach me or go actively looking?

Hiya I PMd you about the FB thing

A squeeze page is a page with a catchy title - a cool pic and a huge CTA (Call To Action). It leads often to a FREE high value offer which people love, and it starts the process of building trust with people. Everything is about being open and honest and never hard selling to people. The Squeeze page is linked to an email capture program so you can start corresponding with your new leads and sending them priced products which are congruent with your free offer (similar to...)
