Hey,

I'm gonna make this short and to the point....

I have a lot of great value content posted on my website but to be honest it doesn't look attractive nor easy to read.

Does anyone have suggestions for making my content more appealing, enjoyable and easy to read?

I'm using WordPress, do I have to change the font or size or spacing.. I donno maybe there's a plugin.... At the same time I do not want it to take hours to post the content, something fast and good.

Thanks in Advance

I am no expert but what I have come to learn is that if your content is great, then making it more appealing to the eye is easy.

Break up the text with videos, pictures or audio files( soundcloud). You may also use different text formatting such Bold,Italic or Underline elements to highlight the important parts.

You may also use Note/Tip boxes with different colors that match your website's style and feel....all these little tricks can help you become successful among your audience.

Keep your paragraphs short. Add an image that catches the eye of the visitor so they want to know more. I have found that an intriguing/funny/shocking image near the beginning of the article significantly increases the time spent on the page.

    Hi Rudes

We have a saying which you probably heard before which is "Don't get it perfect - just get it going."

Do you have visitors engaging on your site, If so leave it alone. Or maybe do a post to get some feedback. Something like - "Quite a few of you have been messaging about my website layout, so I thought I would ask you for suggestions to improve it. What would you like to see - do you find it easy to read and follow. What changes would you like to see?"

It's a very personal thing, and you need to feel comfortable with the style you use. I personally steer clear of 'neat and tidy' preferring the human expressive type site. Lot's of header fonts and even colours, and everything broken up with small justified pics. It works for me and I feel comfortable with this, but I know other people prefer neat and tidy, professional pages.

Two things I would change immediately though. First off - you must have an opt-in in form at the top of your home page. That will immediately change what happens when people visit. You will start building a list! Which is the whole point. Then you will be able to engage and correspond with them, building up Know, Like and Trust

I would also put that cool avatar photo on there too. Believe it or not I have actually had people come up to me at seminars because they recognise my blog photo. That's how important this is. Branding...

One more thing - I would design a nice Header Panel for the top of each page that you can use everywhere - Twitter, Facebook etc. If you can't do that yourself - go to Fiverr or a professional designer if you can afford it. Again branding - you can even put the header - or a snipped version as you email siggy with your avatar pic as well...

    Cheers Richard

    Try to keep paragraphs short.

Use bullet points for the readers interest to be engaged. Make use of images, infographics. An image appeals more than words, its truthfully said.

It would help if you post a link. I checked the link in your signature and couldn't find any content, so I assume you have another site?

I'd be happy to take a look and give you some advice, but I have to be able to see it. All the advice you're being given now is just shots in the dark without being able to see the site.

      Where?

I see a long list of (often quite old and outdated) ebooks for sale. Each ebook has a sales page you can click and read. It's in red and black - and then red and black again. The font size changes constantly.

The site is barely a month old, if that. Many of the ebooks you are offering can be found free online because several are quite dated.

Take some time to look at sites that sell MMO products and ebooks to get an idea of how they combine the text/content with the "buy this now" concept.

My guess is you bought a package of resale rights - and I doubt that's going to be enough to make money with the site.

It's not about tweaking this site or theme ...it's about starting over with a new focus. The bad news is the starting over - the good news is you don't have anything to lose as it's a new site and I doubt there's traffic to worry about.

Sorry - but you did ask.

Good grief - I assumed he had a different site because I couldn't imagine calling a store 'good content'.

Specific themes would make it look good, but you need to also implement H1, H2, H3, tags etc. and breaking them up into specific paragraphs in order for it to be more read. Also, there are specific types of programs that will help you make the text more "readable" for SEO purposes.

Weren't we just talking about assumptions in the OT?

Until or unless the OP comes back to the thread to say differently, I'm guessing the sig site is the one he's asking about.

    I have a few suggestions. A lot of websites could benefit from implementing these things;

    Assuming that the website in your signature is the same one you are asking about;

-Increase font size. It's already decently sized, but another notch or two up couldn't hurt.

-Increase Spacing. Both between lines and paragraphs. Make sure the headlines stand out more.

-Drop the red. Choose another color for headlines.

-Only highlight key points. You're highlighting an awful lot. I think it mitigates the effect you are looking for to some degree.

You can see by editing again & again, which look more good. I think you should write by paragraph to paragraph. You also should use the sign (,./:;"') properly. Then every one will be able to read & understand what do you want to say. Thanks

I would start by learning more about copy-writing and studying other successful blogs online. You should also study the very successful websites online.

Let me tell you what I have done, for my blogs online ......

I actually have taken a good look and analyzed what Facebook is doing regarding their layout and design.

I also learned that making the Font and the Width of your paragraphs easy for the eye - will make people stay on your site longer. And actually read more!

I have taken the time to really think about why Facebook has everything the way they have it. Now, I know facebook is not a blog site or anything like that - but they are a very successful website and they have spent millions of dollars investing in tests, and learning what works best to make their users stay longer on the site.

Wouldn't it be a great website to pay close attention to???

    I would think so!

I try to make the width of my content box (at my blog) - the same width as on Facebook. Because when the visitor's eye does not have to move from left to right so much, and only up and down - they will be more comfortable to read more!

There has also been a study about this. When readers have to move their eyes from left to right a lot more than up and down ... they get uncomfortable and do not wish to continue reading.

If you pay attention to the successful blogs online, you will see a similarity on the width of their content box!

Making the Font Size big enough, to help someone who needs glasses, read the content without glasses, is also a smart move! .. you know what I mean!

There are some plugins you can find for WordPress to help with increase the Font Size on your blog. There are also some Premium Themes that come with a Font Style Feature. Look for these and test things out.

These are some of my best tips I can give you to help your content be more appealing to the internet users!

    Keep up the great work!!

    Have an awesome week!

I agree with the above comments. Also,

Insert a video, post an image to break up the text or an infographic, links to other sites, etc.

Research how successful bloggers have set out their content to get some ideas.
