An Idea for Generating a Little Cash

Here is an idea I stumbled upon and have seen a couple of sales from:

Last week, I was in the local AT&T store and bought a new iPhone. Curious, I asked the salesman about how many iPhones they sold a week -- he answered by saying that he sells about 15 a week. He said that was about average for the 20+ salespeople working in that store.

While there, the salesperson said that I needed to purchase something to protect the iPhone from being dropped on the floor, spilled on, etc.

He recommended an "Otterbox Defender case" which he then proceeded to pull his iPhone out of his pocket with one around it.

He took the iPhone and beat it on the counter to show how well it protected the gadget. It definitely did its job.

I asked where I could get one and he said they didn't sell it in the store, but he got his on Ebay for about $35.

And the light bulb went off over my head...

20+ salespeople X 15 sales week = 300+ iPhones sold a week just in that store.

So, I went home and created a subdomain on my hosting account, whipped up a Wordpress page, went to my Ebay affiliate account, and placed the code for "iPhone Otterbox Defender" on the page.

I printed up some business cards with a picture of the Otterbox Defender and the website address of the Ebay affiliate page that I had made.

I went back to the AT&T store with the business cards in hand and asked the salesperson that when he demonstrated the Otterbox Defender to new iPhone customers if he would just hand them one of the cards to the customers and tell them they can get one by going to my website.

He said not only would he do that, he would ask the other salespeople to do the same.

It has only been a week, but I have already seen 2 sales on my Ebay Partner account. As more cards go out, maybe I will see even more...
