Getting thw right kind of traffic

I have tried a whole bunch of ways to get traffic to my e-commerce store. I am currently building up my social networks. I have used ppc. SEO. The problem I am having is the traffic that does come isn't really engaging . What's the best way to get targeted traffic that will turn into leads and eventually customers.

    Benj,

I would check several things as there are a number of problem points that you could be having.

    1. Is the traffic really targeted? Have you done market research to see what your audience is asking for? Do you understand their needs/wants/desires?

    2. Is your e-Commerce store professional looking and have you taken all the risk out of purchases by 1st time customers?

    3. Is you sales copy engaging? I'm not talking about a simple list of product features. Are you clearly explaining the benefits of the products to the potential buyers?

    4. Have you checked the competition? Are you trying to compete with the online juggernauts? Can a prospect buy your products on Amazon?

    5. What about your prices? Shipping rates? Return policy? Delivery times? All these things are important to consumers and you need to pay attention to them and to what your competitors are doing.

    6. What are you doing to collect and retain subscribers to your site. If it truly does take 7 points of contact before the average purchase, you must be able to keep your prospects coming back again and again to your site.

There are other considerations, but these are a few of the basics that you should review about your store.

    The best to you,

    Steve

Have you tried FILTERING your traffic through CONTENT?

    Here's a quick flow chart

TRAFFIC SOURCES > CONTENT > KLT FILTERING > APPROPRIATE 'FOLLOW UP' CONTENT > LANDING PAGE

    KLT stands for Know-Like-Trust

For people to BUY from you, they must first trust you. To TRUST you, they have to LIKE you. For them to LIKE you they must first want to KNOW you or understand that YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT

Each follow up content must push people through the KLT process regardless of where they are (e.g. someone is looking to KNOW about a niche, your content must push them to want to LIKE etc)

Unless you've built a solid brand that does the KLT heavy lifting for you, you have to factor in KLT into your traffic campaigns.

When you say "engaging", do you mean they're not buying, or they're not signing up for your free offer? What kind of e-commerce store do you have? Depending on the type of business you run, what you offer as your *freebie* needs to pitched "slightly" differently. Show us your site/store. When you do PPC, how are you targeting your keywords, and what's your CPC?

Well the engagement of your traffic depends on the quality of the traffic but also on your site. Even if the quality of the traffic is high but your site is not really user friendly or appealing you wont' convert well. So you need to work on both those points, try to get high quality traffic but also make your site easy to use, easy to be shared on social media and provide quality information to your visitors.

First I suggest picking and choosing just one or two sources of traffic. Of course its important to know who are what the demographics of your traffic source are. Are they even qualified for your product or service?

You you know that you can create your campaigns more accordingly. I would run some traffic and see what it does. If people are not engaging I would start with that and optimize for the engagement. After your building leads track and see what your prospect is doing and work on converting them into your front offer. There is a correct way and a wrong way to do this.

Now-a-days e-commerce sites have to face the music in terms of mind blowing competition.

Huge e-commerce sites throw a lot of budget for seo and traffic generation.

Try to locate where your real audience is, then make your mark on that social media platform.

Try facebook advertising after creating a page dedicated to your e-commerce site. You can get cheap clicks and conversion as well.

    Regards!

PPC traffic is perfect, because you can pretty much laser-target your audience, since you're picking countries, keywords, devices, etc.

If you can afford it, then that's as good as it gets. I would avoid Adwords and go for BingAds instead, because they are more flexible with what you can advertise.

Have a look at your campaigns and make sure you're not bidding on broad keywords, which will give you tons of traffic that won't convert.
