Do vector images load slower?

I'm creating a header for my site and the image i want to use is a bit pixelated, so I was going to vectorize it in Inkscape to get rid of the jagged edges. Can I do that? Can you use vector images on your site or does it make your site load slower?

You do realize that the Main Forum is where we talk about making money right?

Your vector file will be converted to raster when you save it as .jpg or .png or whatever. From that point, how good it looks and filesize depend on the level of optimization.

    Ok, thanks Dub.

I should have realized that I was posting in the wrong forum category but I wasn't thinking. I guess because I post in the main forum more often then I do the others.
