Hello,

I have just sold one of my sites and received the payment for it. It is a Wordpress blog, domain bought from Namecheap and hosting is by Hostgator.

What must I do now to pass the site ownership from me to that guy?

Thanks!

Namecheap is easy - just get his namecheap username and you can "PUSH" the domain to him.

Hostgator I have no clue since I don't know what kind of plan you have there.

If he doesnt have namecheap, can you just give him your namecheap account?

Don't give him your NameCheap account because your credit card is attached. Create a NEW account in NameCheap, push the domain from your original account to this new account. Then you can give him the username and password to the new account safely.

Of course, if he already has a namecheap account, just push the domain from yours to his.

I have sold many wordpress blogs. What I do after the sales is organize the domain push and then package the database and all the webfiles, along with whatever graphics I've included and send them to the buyer. That way, he has all the files as a backup and has recieved the site.

I also transfer the site and require access to their cpanel. If you are doing the transfer you will need to know your way around cpanel, to setup and import the database. You will also need to import the site or upload it via ftp.
