Is making a living actually possible.

I've been looking into a affiliate marketing quite a bit and see both ends of the spectrum. Some say they make thousands a day while others claim to have never made a dime. I understand there is most likely a system to successful marketing but no one wants to give up any info without charging an arm and a leg. Seems a lot like scamming but I have hope that this isn't the case.

Would someone please prove me wrong?

People are really making the money. When I entered into the online world, I used to laugh on the concept on earning online. I used to be in the same dileamma as you are in now. When I got into it, I didn't make a dime at the start. I felt demotivated. But after 2 months, I earned my first 4 dollars. Thats when I trusted that it is actually possible. I am still not earning much. But I have hope and motivation with me now. I know its possible and many are doing it...

So throw all those self limiting beliefs...

Yes, but don't buy into those push button loophole, you'll make money in hours sales pages. Find a proven system that you think you would be interested in persuing and then do your research on it. There are plenty of methods that work but persistence, failure (and learning from the failures] and of course some initial hard work is what will get you there.

There are 2 variables that separate success and failure. #1 is traffic. When we start talking about traffic there are basically 2 kinds. there is targeted ( buying ) traffic.. and then there is mass traffic with no interest really. To be honest, its a fine line and if the second part is right the mass may turn into buyers later.

The second variable is content. Is the content there to develop trust and to make someone buy? Content is also a very good way to develop traffic, and not only traffic but targeted traffic. There is a continual wave of miss information on this board that all you need is "Quality Content" and that in itself is true. However Quality Content without a basic knowledge of SEO is the long road that many follow.

To increase your odds off success, I suggest reading up on Pillar Content, corner stone content, Content marketing, and on page SEO. These principles are the basis to a successful path in most any kind of online marketing!

    Best of luck!

It is possible, if you have drive and keep your mind focuses. Remember you will always have good and bad days. Don't let the bad days effect you. Never give up. Stay motivated.

It's definitely possible, but requires allot of hard work. Don't think you'll make lots of money by spending an hour of time on things each day, or by spending 3hrs each day just staring at your current website. Be proactive and always working on something. There are lots of helpful posts around this forum which doesn't require any money. Get started and keep going with building what you have. It will take time, but patience is a virtue!

Of course it's possible. Most systems or methods are very similar with little tweaks here and there.

Just find someone that wants to buy what you are offering for sale. Basic business.

It will require tons of hard work, determination, persistence. Don't invest in next best system or method that comes along. Find one method, stick with it until you succeed. You will fail, you will learn, and you will earn. Testing should become second nature to you. Test everything. Keep your winners, learn from your failures.

Yes, you need traffic. Targeted traffic is the best. Someone that wants what you are selling.
Build your list along the way.

Oh and by the way, Who cares what others are earning. Only be concerned with what you are earning and increase it as you go along.

    Anyways, just my thoughts.

First off, it is totally possible to make a living from the internet. However, in order to do that, you need to learn and implement a long-term business model like niche blogging (most common, the product review-site model), becoming a ghostwriter, publishing books on Kindle, etc. The reason a lot of people fail is because they come into this with the wrong mind set. They think that just because it's the internet that they don't have to work at it and that there is some kind of "easy button" -- not true.

Finally, you have to think of learning how to make money online no different than getting a college education or something. While there are scams out there -- do your research and do all you can to avoid these -- it makes no sense for someone that possesses the knowledge and skill to potentially generate unheard of amounts of money (for the average person) to give it away from free (from a business perspective, anyway).

I'll give you a more practical example. Nowadays, with the economy the way it is (more educated people than ever before and fewer jobs to go around), more and more kids these days are looking to become professional Youtubers as their jobs. In theory, it seems like it would be really easy -- make some videos and post content on a fairly consistent basis). What a lot of people don't realize is that a lot of the people that make it really big already had a passion for something in a profitable niche (like music) and were posting content before a partner program existed.

When the partnership program allowed anyone to join, they were the ones that immediately benefited from it. They spent years doing what they do, spending money on learning about it, spent tons of money on equipment and all that stuff that they needed to make the best possible videos and all that stuff. In short, it's not something that happens overnight.

There's a BIG learning curve... There reason people don't make money... Because they can screw up in so many ways.
    1. You need a funnel.
    2. You need a landing page.
    3. You need a free giveaway.
4 You need an autoresponder and collect people's emails
    5. You need to sell a product or service to people
    6. Follow up emails
    7. Traffic

And if you don't have 1 thing... then you will NOT make money....

Now there are many variations of this... You're not necessarily need #3 and you can replace it with something else....

But traffic for example is SOOO important.... without it you can't succeed

I go over it in my book...if you want to download for free and read it you are welcome...It's in my signature

I feel like a broken record because I post almost the same thing when I see someone asking a similar question regarding affiliate marketing. But it's what I have been doing for a very long time and works well.

CPA Lead Generation. With leads all someone has to do is fill out a form (no credit card required), so you will typically get higher conversions. There are many decent leads that pay $20-$60 and even more with some verticals, that work well with a front-end campaign. Mainly I stick with leads that have a make, get or save money angle to them, as they have mass appeal to the general public and you can generate high volume. I do some other offers, but it's the mass appeal that I'm always looking for.

I promote 100% with email using lists that I build and or purchased. Then everything comes down to how many emails do I need to send to break-even on my list acquisition costs and when to start promoting other offers and how aggressive can I get, which all comes down to closely watching your stats. I spend no money on any form of marketing unless it directly and cost effectively results in an email list.

Unlike IM/MMO where most marketers try and build a relationship with their subscribers, this is not necessary with lead generation lists, as it will not make any significant increase in conversions. So it's less work. You just mail until they unsubscribe. Which you will be surprised that a good percentage will stick around for years even though all they see are offers from you. I do a little indoctrination at the beginning to position the company as an authority in providing high quality internet offers and a few static things in the messages to add some professionalism to them.

The downside is that when your first starting out with CPA networks is that in order to get paid weekly you need to be doing typically around $1K per week. If your not, then you have to be able to float all your business expenses until you get paid and you can reinvest. Also, you really want to sign up to many networks, so that you can test the same offer between the networks and similar offers, to find which ones makes the most money. Doing this splits your traffic up between the networks and makes that $1K harder to achieve across them all. But it's important, as I have tested the same offer over several networks and one will sometimes make substantially more than the others and had I not tested, I would of lost quite a bit.

    Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

    Hi Noukanshi,

I know how you feel - you're not the only one here... there are (Im sure) a few thousands out there which feel the same way like you do...

The problem with affiliate marketing is, it needs time and a lot of trial and error. You should also have a good skill asset to make things happen.

But to break down the full process of Affiliate Marketing and succeed in this type of business I could give you wan tip to focus on:

    1. TRAFFIC
    2. CONVERSIONS

Of course, there are way more things to do like WebDesign, setting everything up, having a good sales funnel and don't look like a sales man at the same time.

But that's the only thing you have to focus on. Everything else is just secondary... You have to go through your own "Trial and Error" - time as I like to call it and stick on it even if it does not generate a income after 2 months! (Sure, the niche should be one where it's possible to make money - not anything like targeting the keyword "weight loss" and trying to make money with organic traffic through SEO).

Just get a normal affiliate-marketing Book and read it. Dont look for the secret sauce, or any tricky plugins which will boost your conversion up to 1000%... That's secondary and can be done after you have generated some revenue...

I hope I could help you a little bit out and wanna say that there are a lot of ppl out there (even in this forum) which are making a shitload of money through affiliate marketing and it's possible... But you have to work hard and be consistent. Treat it like a real business or a real job as an employee... You have to WORK. No WORK = No Money.

Best regards & have a great day,
    PHR

yes it is still possible I too sometimes feel like a broken record

what has worked for me is looking for unexploited opportunities

these days you can't compete in a broad sense you must drill down into the vertical part of the market

once you get established things will happen with time

the other part is money, can you buy traffic or must you depend on free traffic

buying traffic helps it happen faster, because there is lots of traffic to buy and if you have a good product you can tweek the conversions with every traffic buy

if you depend on free traffic a whole different approach is needed this is where I specialize looking in the vertical to spot unexploited opportunities

these opportunities show up in surprising places again I doubt many can make in a broad sense out of the gate without first digging deep in a market

Count me in the broken record department.

This is no different than anything else in life. Some people do well, some don't. Some people do incredibly well, some people go bankrupt. The tools necessary to achieve success are no mystery and are available to everyone. The intangible things required vary from person to person.

If there was one way to do things to guarantee success, who would not be doing them and who would not be successful?

I'm sure the OP was sincere in his question, but the premise of the question is just plain silly, from my point of view.

      Cheers. - Frank

i basically started with about $200 in my pocket, built 2 niche sites up to $xx,xxx per month. Yes it did not happen overnight.

How? getting leads every day, as many as I could via squeeze page, and then selling to those people.

Most people think list building is crap in 2015, that is cods-wallop. Basically with everyone wired in and checking their email every 2.5 seconds, email marketing is working 10 times better than it was say...in 2012-2013 a few years back.

Treat this like a business, and build a list, and then a buyers list, and work those lists, and you can create any income you want. All it takes is DOMAIN, HOSTING, and SQUEEZE PAGE....[plus autoresponder obviously] include traffic and your away.

Hope this helps. Remember taking no action will not fill your bank account. ACTION BREEDS RESULTS! so go for it, stop reading, and start doing! The best time to act is yesterday. :-)

    Hi Noukanshi

You have so much great advice here from some top marketers - and if you act on 1% of it you will make some money.

Here's my 10 cents worth too.

    1. Keep the whole thing as simple as possible. Don't overload yourself with too much info. Making money online is very simple but many of the marketers out there want to complicate it as much as possible so they can sell you their solutions - which aren't solutions at all - just more complications...

    2. Just pick on 2 - only 2 - traffic methods and stick to them like glue. Don't get distracted away from your simple strategy - remember - that's what the marketers want you to do! Become an expert in your chosen methods. One might be paid the other might be free - free takes longer but the quality of the leads is far better.

    3. Keep doing it every day for a month and then come back and say it didn't work - I for one won't believe you. But if it does work you will probably be too busy by then. If you want to know what traffic methods there are you can either PM me or do the research yourself.

    Good luck

Listen I will tell you something today, making the first one dollar is the hardest, but if you know how to make the dollar you will make the 10 dollars and 100 and 1000 and more. I started just like you. There is no push button to make money. By the way why most fail is purely because you take as earning online like a hobby, treat your online business like you are treating an offline coffee shop business and you will have success soon. Have the right mind

    1. You need to work hard.
    2. You need to Invest.
    3. You need to make a little losses.
    4. And then learn the Market learn whats people want.
    5. Optmise for Profits.

Another very incorrect statement is this - "No one wants to give info" there is no hidden info but most of newcomers think there is a little secret we hide that if revealed will make you money, No No thats not the case.

Big advice to you and others who are starting like you. If you are just starting, start with CPA marketing slowly get into clickbank selling and ultimately master launching your own products.

By the way know something people who coach and charge high, its not because they will give you a secret sauce, but its because they are looking for the value of their time. and the push they will give you to take action.

So cummon lets take action guys and money will roll in.

    hi,

I think sticking to one system, funnel, one plan is key to success and believe me it is not so easy. There is too much information overload that it is very hard to stick one system and one plan. If you can stick one system you will get result definitely. You may get result small or big that is up to your hard work and right choice of system. I personally thought that there must be internet marketers earning enough. Just think how much of internet marketing products we purchase. That's the point. giving good content wisely is the key.

    Hi Noukanshi,

The common consensus is that affiliate marketing is the easiest and simplest way of getting started in making money online, After all, you have a product ready to sell, possibly a sales letter ready to use, other material provided and all you have to do is get SALES. Sounds easy doesn't it?

If it was then as has been stated in earlier responses, EVERYBODY would be doing it and getting quite rich along the way. Don't get me wrong, there are certain marketers that have become very rich from affiliate marketing. Sadly 95% of online marketers never make a penny.

When you think of the effort that is required to get a sale, you then have to share your commission and you build up the guy's list who you are working for. So why not develop your own product and keep all the sale price for yourself and build your own list, which will be the best asset you will have in time.

When I pose this suggestion to most people, they immediately dismiss the idea out of hand. But everybody has the ability to write a report/book, create an audio/video product or even put up a video on YouTube etc. Find a hungry niche - a hobby you like or a sport you have an interest in and create your own product. You get to keep all the money and the product, if marketed correctly will earn you money for years to come

The alternative is to find affiliate products that pay you 100% of the sale price.. I belong to two such products and I'm just about to launch my own self-created book.

Hope this helps you in a positive manner. Send me a PM if I can be of further assistance

    Good luck

    Al

That's because the people who are making thousands found a combination of items that worked (i.e. Traffic Source + Landing Page + Offer). After they spent the time, money, and energy to find what works they scale it up to multiple traffic sources and make a lot of money.

Those that haven't made a dime are most likely overwhelmed by either trying to do to many things at once or over complicate the process completely.

There are a lot of mentors out there who are doing really well and have really good training for their students. The problem is that most people are not willing to do what ever it takes to succeed. They don't want to invest their time and money and that is why most people FAIL.

It is really possible to make a lot of money with affiliate marketing. You just have to know that you will have to invest money on ads and you will need to work with the right programs.

Just focus on making that first sale and then when you get there focus on the next one... If you put in the work before you know it you'll be making the money that you didn't think you could make 😊

It is definitely a good way to make money. Most people make it look easy on the surface because they've already built up their resources, so it's easier for them to quickly send out a email broadcast, or send some paid traffic to their offer. If you're not ready to put in the hard work to research, test, implement, test and test some more - then it may not be for you.

The #1 thing you need in any business, regardless of what you're selling is targeted traffic. Traffic will dictate wether you succeed or not - you could have the best converting affiliate product, and still fail if you have no traffic. Concentrate more on how to generate traffic, more than you concentrate on how to make money with affiliate marketing. Once you learn how to drive traffic, you can promote ANYTHING - this is the key ingredient.

If you want to make quicker sales with affiliate marketing, find or get a squeeze page created, create or find a funnel system, that also includes follow-up emails (Important.) Then, use your affiliate product as your OTO (One Time Offer) this way, when subscribers opt-in through your squeeze page, they go directly to your affiliate product first. Then, your follow-up emails should follow up with them overtime, reminding them to buy - and also include other related offers they're interested in.

Next, find you some reputable solo ad providers you can see here and also here ... I recommend atleast 300 clicks which will give you a better chance of making several sales. The more clicks you order from these solo ad vendors, the lower the discount they'll give you.

Now, you won't always make front-end sales, or sales in general on every solo ad. The most money comes from your back-end funnel. If you have a good converting affiliate product, that will increase your chances of making the sale, but also - look for a BIG ticket affiliate product, so that you can atleast re-coup some your solo ad cost.

Once you've been testing this for several runs, you'll then see how much you profit on each solo ad, and you can now take the profit you've made, and use that as leverage to buy more solo ads - before you know it, you now have a nice size subscribers list you can follow up with anytime, and steady affiliate commissions coming in. Then, you can scale it up and test other sources such as media buys, PPC, click-banking etc

If you want to avoid the potential "scam".... sell on ebay or fiverr.

I would say Amazon... but they've scammed me directly.

If you want to make money from your own personal site.... get serious, focused, and do everything a particular good course tells you to do. That's what it's there for - to help you.

If this was an offline business question... i'd tell you to purchase the *original* Jeff Paul "Make money in your underwear product". Great course. And NOT the one you see on the infomercials.

You might want to hedge your bet and become an affiliate for some companies and for others you can become a white label reseller which gives you your own solution to promote.

The reason I bring this up is that some people thrive when they themselves have something on the line.

The problem is that you need to pay in order to get some good information. The best advice I give anyone new to IM is to get a coach. Unfortunately the scammers know this, and they are plenty of them.

It's the question that everyone will say yes to but very few would be actually making it happen! It's sad reality
