eBook Idea - "Ladies: Find Clothing Sales Before Anyone Else!"

Hello Fellow Warriors,

I'm back! The internet is not going to be able to be installed for another week and a bit but a kind new neighbor let me use her wifi in the mean time as my phone maxed it's limit.

My question is my Sister wants to write and promote her eBook "Ladies: Find Clothing Sales Before Anyone Else!" and I was wondering if you could give me some feedback.

She is a great writer and knows from me that the eBook must contain genuine value in terms of knowledge and how to apply that knowledge.

My question is what would a micro niche eBook like this go for in terms of pricing? Would it sell for $14.97 or $9.97?

From your experiences out there have any of you sold 5-10 copies a day? Is this being unrealistic for such a micro niche?

What are the best marketing avenues? Have her own affiliate program (pay out 50%), Amazon Kindle (is that generally a different price point?), anything else?

Thanks J

It would probably have to start selling at like $0.99 to $2.99 on Amazon ... that's what most first time authors sell at ... unless she get's it "published" published ... then - she can sell it for more.

More than possible to sell 5-10 copies a day on Amazon ... but, it's not "easy". Will need reviews. Will need promotion. Etc.

Going the Affiliate program route ... it can be hit or miss. It would absolutely have to deliver value if you're to charge more than $10. Maybe a video course as well to go along with the book. It's a lot more work to go this route, but payouts can be bigger.

      Jordo,

I'm really surprised at your questions given the fact that you've been a member here since 2003!

How can anyone answer how much an ebook should be priced at given the fact that no one has seen it, we don't know the competition, the market for ladies clothing sales, or anything else about the book? You're just going to get random meaningless guesses.

Same with selling 5-10 books a day. Some sell that many, some sell many more, most sell many fewer. No one knows what marketing and distribution is planned (if any), how much of a marketing budget is set aside, and all the other variables that play into the answer.

Every business is different, every market is different, every marketer brings a different level of passion, skill, expertise, and persistence to the game. No one has any clue how many books your sister will sell and you shouldn't rely on anyone to influence your decisions at this point of the game.

I wondered the same - especially since ALL of the OP's posts have been made in the past 2 weeks.

        I'm not.

Goes to show that "long-time members" don't even know how to sell a simple ebook.

First of all who cares how long I've been a member. If you must know I purchased membership back in 2003 and completely forgot about it. Would you like me to cancel and start under a new user name? Would that make you feel more comfortable lol? Wow. If you don't want to answer my question then don't but no need for personal attacks.

I'm not asking "How can I make $1,000,000 in ten minutes" or any of the other ridiculous posts you are always complaining about.

If you don't have value to input are have a hard time with my membership being from 2003 then just ignore my question. Simple. Too many of you IM get up on your high horse I've noticed. No need. We are supposed to be a community that help each other out.

If I ask a dumb question here and there it's par for the course. We all learn that way and if you think you never asked a dumb question your deluding yourself.

    Thanks.

Steve B. I was asking for examples of others not answers directly to my questions but more of samples to give me an idea. Maybe it was a dumb question but so what. We all learn that way. It's those afraid to ask a question that is the real path to ensure you stay where you are.

Your membership is from 2005. To be honest I didn't expect this from a Senior Warrior. No need for negativity.

    Thanks.

Thanks TheNewJames for taking my question seriously and providing value.

In all honestly to sell an eBook for $0.99 to $2.99 is hardly worth it. Maybe I'm missing something here but time would be better spent else where wouldn't you think?

My membership is 2003 but I'm new to IM and I stated that and never held myself out to be an IM wizard.

I humbly ask for your help and in return I will pay if forward and help out who I can in the future. Maybe even one day I can offer some help go a Senior Warrior or two you never know. One thing is for sure I'm committed to IM and am enjoying the community here at WF. Just try and remember it's not where you start it's where you finish.

    Much appreciated.

Let's think about your market for a moment.

You are wanting to promote a book to women who would have to be hardcore "Save-A-Holics". People who are trying to stretch every penny by finding sales before others.

I'm trying to picture these women giving up $10 to $15 for an eBook. It doesn't equate in my mind.

The women who are that intense in finding sales are probably already signed up to get Twitter Alerts, Facebook posts, and on the mailing lists for all the stores they want to shop at.

I could be wrong, but I doubt there is much of a market for the book. Maybe if you priced it at $.99 on Amazon.

I'd go a completely different direction with it. I'd use the book as a giveaway to build an email list that I could email affiliate offers on highly discounted items and other associated products.

      Thanks Barry.

Great suggestion. Yes being a male I really didn't know about this market so that is why I asked. Some good insights though and an alternative strategy. Well said.

Women like to shop and from my wife's credit card statement I can tell you she does not really care about sales.

Personally I do not think it would sell. What information does your "siste" have that no one else has access to.

as for pricing and whatever else. use the search function to begin with. second no one can answer that for you. You have been around and know that it will take research and no one will do it for you.

The main question you should be asking, is there a market for women who are looking to BUY information on where to find clothing sales....

I struggle to remember a similar product and this is probably one of those things that hasn't been done, because there's no need for it.

Don't try to re-invent the wheel, because if you want to create something that no one's done before, then chances are it's probably a waste of time, unless you are Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Sergey Brin.

If you decide to go for it anyway, with regards to pricing, just start small, then try to increase it later on and judge the response.

Thanks zdebx. Ok gotcha. Don't be a pioneer your saying.

I would have to agree. I think women already know that info but it would be a great article for free on a fashion blog.

    Thanks J

I'm a thrifty shopper... I LOVE feeling like I got a great deal. I would be willing to buy an ebook that would let me know how to grab the BEST deals ever! But, truthfully the title of this ebook is a little boring. I think the topic is terrific, however! I would certainly test the price value to see what the market is willing to pay. To save hundreds of dollars on clothing, I may be tempted to invest $14.97.. but you'd certainly have to convince me that it's worth the price. If you're offering great value, you'll get good feedback...just ask for it from customers at the end of your ebook. It would probably be worth hiring a copywriter to help out with your salespage copy... the investment would be worth it. If you sell on Amazon, you may have to sell a lot cheaper...ebooks typically sell cheaper there. If you sell on your own website, you could offer affiliates 50% commission and probably get a lot more money and sales. (But you also have to know how to round up affiliates and know how to inspire them to keep promoting your product.)
