Does viral marketing work?

INTERNET MARKETING

I am experimenting with viral marketing to see if there is a way to get people to spread the word about my site. Some ways to do this are word of mouth, viral videos, linkbait articles. Has anyone here had success with viral marketing of some sort?

But let me get this straight, you're trying to make the site(s) in your signature go viral?

You're offering people $20 for 1,000 visitors to that site? LOL

You've got A-LOT to learn!

Also, if you're making $365,000 per year plus already - you can probably afford to buy your own domain name, hire a web designer and pay for some decent traffic...

If your content gets truly viral, you can expect a huge load of traffic, but I'm not sure how that'll convert for you. I get quite a lot of traffic (not huge though) from social media, but the conversions are really bad.

Yes if your information and post is shared on social media then sure you will get traffic on your site but your post should be of good quality to get quality traffic.

yoes of course, ciral marketing is a strategy that can works!

In your blog you must place a box throught that a visitor can share the content on facebook/Twitter etc..
you should offer a little incentive (a tutorial, a pdf, a video)

You can create funny post or funny videos on youtube.

  Best examples are viral videos Gangnam style by a korean artist and kolaveri song from an Indian artist .They both went viral and created history
  
  And why your signature says $20 for 1K visitors .Use signature place wisely ,it will help you a lot

  You might think that traffic from a viral video, or article, or graphic would really be the answer to all your traffic problems. That's seldom the case.
  
  Often the traffic associated with viral videos or web sites is very difficult to monetize because it's rarely "buyer" traffic and almost always non-targeted.
  
  Viral traffic is often associated with funny, witty, cute, cool, sad, happy, stupid, "OMG" type content - stuff that is easily shared and passed from friend to friend.
  
  Social sites like Facebook, Twitter, and even Pinterest (to a lesser degree) can provide a lot of traffic but sometimes few really targeted buyers for most niche products. The content that is shared is "targeted" because it has entertainment value to the viewer. But that's the wrong kind of targeting if you're trying to sell something because most entertainment of this kind online is free.

Maybe we're thinking of two different things here, but something "viral" is seen and shared by millions because it's great content. So i don't see how you're experimenting with it when you don't even know what it is.

With that said, every marketer's goal is to make their content go viral, so I'm not sure if there's even a question here to answer. Nobody wants less people to see their hard work...
