The stereotype against bloggers

If you are in a particulars sports niche or have a broad sports website than you know about ESPN Radio's . Colin Cowherd's theory is that bloggers only put out content just for the sake of getting clicks. ESPN.Com does the same thing, but the only difference between them and independent platforms like I have is that they have established writers and brand awareness. Just saying

First off, don't even get me talking on the "talking heads" that make up football analysts. These guys literally Google the games they're covering, make a fact sheet with about 20 stats on it, and then talk like they've been hating the team they're talking about since the dawn of civilization.

The news sites are only slightly better, but they re-hash every single story from a thousand different angles instead of risking an independent thought for two seconds in their lives. So fan blogs and forums are often the best source of information and it's also usually the most accurate.

For example, I'm a huge Miami Dolphins fan and whenever a local posts something on our forum that he/she saw firsthand, we read about it in the Sun Sentinel or Bleacher Report the following day. So don't get it twisted...those "experts" often turn to us "amateurs" for story ideas on a daily basis.

  • Why would we "know about ESPN"? The US is in only a small part of a global community.

For instance, I'm in the UK and ESPN isn't known here.

Good content gets clicks _and_ establishes brand reputation.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
