Website -- No Means of Monetization. Thoughts?

I forgot the rules on posting links to your websites, so I won't do it yet (let me know if it's allowed, I'll edit the post and add it so you guys can take a look).

Anyways, I have a headache remedy website that previously pulled in about $300 per month from adsense before I got the big axe from google and can no longer use adsense (ever again it seems, even after a 3 year appeal!). I tried using a clickbank product, but it has not even generate 1 sale today (over 2 years, 300 to 400 uniques per day).

This was to be expected, it's a home remedies site on headaches, they want home remedies that are natural. If they wanted to buy something, they'd buy aspirin and be done with it. So, not getting any sales from a "miracle cure headache" ebook isn't exactly shocking. It was created with adsense in mind and did well with it, but now that it's gone -- I just don't know how to monetize it.

What are your thoughts?

Sell adspace? (Is 300/400 daily visitors enough to generate interest and a worthwhile monthly profit) If so, what are good places to do that with such a low visitor count?

Sell links?

Adsense alternative? (I'm trying bing ads right now. In the process of adding the site and getting it approved. I'll see how that goes)

Thanks for all your answers and help!

-Sean

If i was you then i would probably sell adspace to other marketers, maybe you could start contacting blog owners in that particular niche and see if they want to buy your ad space?

or if the site is a high PR then you could sell link space to people, this could be a good monthly residual for you...

You say "they want home remedies that are natural" so there must be items that they would buy. Perhaps as an Amazon Affiliate there are books or products that would fit that niche. Or try googling natural home remedies. I expect the search results will give you some ideas. Also I believe there are programs similar to Adsense that are not part of Google.

      Google "adsense alternatives"

Find "natural remedy" products you can be an affiliate for and promote them to the list you have been building.

Yup- sell the site and be done with it, or just let the domain expire. There is zero sense in running a website that does not have any natural monetization methods UNLESS you're just doing it to help others. But since it doesn't sound like you care about that, then just get rid of it and start another site.

You said it yourself, people looking for natural remedies are not looking to buy anything. So it's worthless to you.

My thoughts: you haven't mentioned anywhere in your post that you are capturing your traffic and bringing them into your list.

This is highly important. Entice them with something free that you know they want to know. Keep emailing with various tips and advice. And promote affiliate (clickbank or physical) products that you know will help them.

You should've sold them a book on the daily health benefits of drinking "Organic Apple Cider Vinegar". That would've probably took off.

But that's okay. Don't give up. If adsense doesn't want you, try a similar program like it. (ex: Chitika). Or just create your own product that you know a small niche is looking for. This always works.

No, they would not buy aspirin and be done with it.

They are searching for remedies to ongoing headache problems. If it was just a single headache, they would not have even searched Google for an answer.

Obviously, you have already been writing content on the subject. Where can you buy the supplements and solutions you have suggested in the past?

Who carries those supplements for sale online?

Become an affiliate for that company.

You should split-test different affiliate products in that niche.

Also, split test different landing pages for the same affiliate products. People might be really interested in the products, but the landing pages and the ad copy on it might just not be enough for them to buy it.

You can try out other Adsense alternatives too. There are a few great alternatives. Just look for them. Do some research on that.

Selling advertising space is also another great way to monetize your site. In this case, work more on the traffic flow of the site. The more traffic it gets, the more you can charge per sponsored ad.

    I hope this helps!

    keep up the great work!

I wouldn't waste time with adsense or selling adspace unless you are happy with doing a ton of work for only a tiny amount of money...

I'd personally go with some high ticket affiliate offer or a product offer of your own.

How about just typing "natural headache remedies affiliate program" into Google and see what comes up?

A whole bunch of options still out there for you to monetize your site without Adsense

    Search is STILL your friend.

The best way to really pull profit, is use the site to build a subscriber base. Then market them health related products to your list via email.

    Hope it helps.

One of the things I never did... build a list. Yes, horrible, I know. But, I never needed it. I am looking into that now though. Seems the best way to make a profit.

The more informed or savvy your audience is, the more clickbank becomes a less viable option to get consistent sales.

Clickbank products are usually too sensational for something as serious as headeache cures.

A better option would be to use Amazon. Users already have associated brand trust and you will see better conversion. Also you will get paid for all items they purchase within 24 hours of coming to your affiliate link.

Media.net is working well for me on my health related sites. It brings in about 70% of what you'd get with Adsense.

I lost my AS account, as well, then figured out how to get it back again. PM me and I will tell you how I did it.

There are PPC systems other than Adsense.

If Adsense was making you money then other systems should perform nearly as well.
