I haven't seen this posted on here yet so I thought I would pass this one along.

I often see many new Warriors post here looking for something that turns their word doc into a PDF.

Today only at Software Giveaway of the Day you can download a PDF maker / software FREE.

Here is the link:

free software I use PDF995 and am very happy - added a printer and a free converter. It is also very light. The price for use is ad panel during use.

I have used PDF995 too and it also is very good. That said I just installed this PDF maker and am even more impressed with just how easy it was to install and then use.

Creates nice PDF files with some nice security features too. i wasn't expecting this.

I just tried this (Simpo PDF) and it does look great. The only prob that I had was -> not all of the hyperlinks work in the PDF file. Unfortunately, I have the same issue with PDF995.

I guess I'd better keep using Open Office 3 for converting Word docs to PDF.

Thanks- Sparky

Wonder why that happened. I remember that happening to me with PDF995.

I created a sample doc with 5 different links and they worked. Wonder why some do and some don't.

I have also used Open Office, does it create secure PDFs?

Gary,

I think it depends on what type of hyperlink is used. If I have a normal link that starts with "http://" then all these links seem to convert ok. But, if I use the "Text to Display" style link such as Click Here to get your Free... - then this link doesn't convert.

Also- I have heard that if your hover your mouse over any link in word or open office and see the "CTRL+Click" then you may have intermitent issues with links converting properly! (You can easily turn off this feature in the Options menu of word or open office) Once this feature is turned off - then a single Click only will take you online to the link - and supposedly this is "less-confusing" for some of the free PDf convertors.

Open Office does have a way of securing PDF's. Don't use the PDF icon in the toolbar - instead go to File->Export as PDF->Security [Tab]. You can use "encrypt PDF" to set a "Open PDF" password and/or "Restrict permissions" to disallow printing, edits, or copying, etc.
