First design your label. You'll need this to attach to the clothes when you're in production.

Got a brand? Logo? What is your particular style?

Do you know how to sew or are you looking to outsource everything - they'll still will need a pattern.

First look to what niche you will fill.

Look at how you're going to be different, better or cheaper. I.E. what's your USP (unique selling proposition)? If you don't have one don't bother creating anything even your label. If you don't understand USP 100% Google it.

This is where you must start.

You must clearly define who you are in the marketplace. The best way to do that is to look for a niche that's not being filled and fill it.

Yes. Study and work hard to learn the private label clothing industry and market. It's a specialized field and a very small percentage of wannabes ever make it to profitability. Up front costs and advertising will eat you alive if you don't know what you're doing. Marketing your brand should be one of your least concerns at the moment.

Pinterest is the best place to promote your brand. Pinterest is really suitable for fashion and clothes. If you share nice photos, they go viral.

  • I have also had some creative business plans similar to this. I usually start by placing a few ideas on eBay and see if there is interest. If there is, I build a brand. If not, I keep trying to tweak it.

Good luck with your business, I hope you do very well.

So before you accuse me of being a tyrant, you have better have your facts in order. I seen a pattern with this member of not sticking to anything long enough for it to work and that's why I answered the way I did.

Today he wants to build a clothing brand and tomorrow he'll want to build a spaceship.

Research Lolly Wolly Doodle, the small town startup that crushed big box name brands in selling on Facebook.

Their marketing is genius because they constantly create small batches of new product & test the market, dump what doesn't sell, mass produce what does sell. That leaves them with a bunch of best seller product.

Along with the previous advice above read this article:

How to Start a Clothing line from scratch, start my own clothing line

I also wanted to clear something up. When you say clothing brand, do you mean like a t-shirt/hat line or a full brand lineup which includes jeans, shirts, shoes, etc?

    Best of luck.

    1) Find a mentor that's actually doing what you want to be doing.
    2) Find three paying customers that are not your mom. Friends work. Friends of friends work. Do not outsource. Design and make the clothes, and give them to those three paying customers.
    3) Scale.

Find a market before you find your product. Don't play business by starting with the logo, the business cards, the website. If you can't find customers, you're done before you start. If you can't find customers willing to pay, something is either wrong with your product, your offer, or your sales process. Keep tweaking until you find customers who want to pay you, and know there are a lot more.

Also, it does seem like you jump around a lot. I've bought my fair share of haphazard WSOs, and I've had a diverse career. But seriously, stick with one thing that makes you money. Keep doing it until you can buy your time back, and only then consider adding another thing. Otherwise you're doomed to mediocrity at best, poverty at worst.
