How to get picked up on google alert?

I have setup some google alerts that send me emails everyday about the keyword that I am looking for. Not all of those links are from news sites. Most of them are though. Some are just blogs

My question is, what do I need to do so that google alert can pickup my ezine article or something?

Sorry for being so concise. If it is a wordpress blog for example, you need to add google to the list of feeds to ping. Somewhere in your wordpress blog you can find this setting. You must add:
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2

You can also do it manually by typing this in your browser navigation bar:
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping?name=_NAME_&url=http\%3A\%2F\%2F_URL_\&change sURL=http\%3A\%2F\%2F_URL_\%2F_XML_

(remove the backslashes - I had to put them in to keep the forum software from mangling my url)

where:
_NAME_ is anything you want
_URL_ is your url without the http://
_XML_ is the path to an xml file of an rss feed if there is one (leave blank if not)

This will cause google's blog crawler to index your page.

I don't have a wordpress site. But I do have lot of ezine articles and they provide rss feed, so if I want those articles to show up as google alerts in people's inbox (for their keyword) then what should I do?

Come to think of it, what I suggested is too complicated because you would have to url encode everything. Forget it. Let's start over.

Suppose your ezine article has the url:
h++p://ezinearticles.com/?The-Basics-of-Affiliate-Programs-and-How-They-Work&id=2642935
and (I'm making this one up) has an rss feed:
h++p://ezinearticles.com/rss/feed.xml
1. Go to h++p://pingomatic.com/
2. Type The Basics of Affiliate Programs and How They Work as the Blog Name
3. Type h++p://ezinearticles.com/?The-Basics-of-Affiliate-Programs-and-How-They-Work&id=2642935 as the blog home page
4. Type h++p://ezinearticles.com/rss/feed.xml in the RSS URL field
5. Tick the boxes of the feeds you want, in particular Google Blog Search
6. Click Send Pings

I can't guarantee google alerts will tell the world about you but this is as close as I think you can get to being noticed by them.

Google Alerts only sends alerts when it finds new pages. If they've already been indexed, they won't send out an alert about it.
