Big Sites with Separate Info Sites?

Do you know of any sites that successfully use a separate domain to further 'sell' the product?

For example, you may have cocacola.com but also have a separate site called allaboutcoke.com which they made to talk much more about the value in the product etc.

The second site would basically be advertised and linked to from cocacola.com and then the second site informs you about it's value and makes you want to buy it (from the main website, a store etc)?

You can attach the links on the main website, So two of all will get the same visitors. I would like to suggest you to make one website for your business. It will be more better than having two.

I think it depends on the situation.

I could see an example where a content based site would be compromised by adding products and services for sale, but at the same time it's likely where all the traffic is at.

So embedding a link in the content site menu to a separate site dedicated to selling the product is a good way to deal with this. I've seen it done many times.
