I keep reading about people indicating to creating a web site. Which I get. But I am curious what type of Word Press templates are people using? Looking for feedback / recommendations should this website consist of to get visitors engaged and clicking?

I have a great domain name in the pet industry with a FB page with a few thousand fans that I would like to to start monetizing.

Appreciate the feedback.

Choose a well supported, fast and responsive theme from ThemeForest. Everthing else depends on your idea of affiliate marketing - will you use banners, or articles, or blog, or everything in one. There are loads of themes in there, even if you search for pets.

Just choose a theme with a clean layout - not too much animations or effects - you don't need to confuse your customer.

Blogging is the most common way to make money online. It's usually the first place people start. The longer you're online and in a particular niche, it becomes more like a hub for all your stuff, like your brand. For example, if you work in the pet niche, you might start out doing affiliate marketing and then get into product creation (like pet guides or something). If you were to decide to create something like that, you'd also include that on your site as well. Get it?

I've used both Visual Composer by WP Bakery and Site Origin's Page Builder. I like Page Builder a lot better. Not a short-code mess like visual composer.

  • I would advise choosing a mobile/responsive theme for Wordpress. A theme that is very customizable and has a lot of good features to maximize readership is also essential. There are a lot of these themes on Theme Forest.

However, if you are looking for a theme that is very easy to work around with, even for newbies, I suggest you check out Affilotheme for Wordpress. The theme comes with a step by step tutorial on how to build and customize your website in Affilotheme.

Look at the top AFFILIATE MARKETING blogs....

    See a pattern?

    You should.

Now use whatwpthemeisthat on some of the blogs and you'll see the base themes they use

Get one of the themes customized to fit the 'industry standard'

Also, 1/2 the action is not the theme design but the plugins they use.
