Default Am I the ONLY one who finds WF counter productive?

Now that the headline has sucked you in...

What I mean is, it's so damn addicting that I find it hard to pull away and actually get some work done! Right now I am supposed to working on an info product I am developing, but I keep getting sucked into the various threads..

This place is truly a gold mine. Wish I had joined and started participating years ago when I first heard of this place..

Sorry, just had to get that praise off my chest.. Now I really am going to get some work done..

See ya on the next thread... damn it.. I mean, no I wont!

Although I find myself spending more time than what I should be moving around in here...I do not think that it is counterproductive.

There is so much knowledge in here and good advice that other then the occasional overload...I feel it is very productive.

I can't say I find it counter productive, but I do try to visit only occasionally (as you'll see from my lack of posts in the past 2 years). Usually I only visit when I need information on something, and sometimes I'll spend a few days posting and then go away for a while again - I could honestly spend my entire day inside in forums so I really have to limit myself.

The forum is not counter productive...

We are - for spending so much time here

I am easily distracted as it is. Coming here only compounds the issue.

Counter productive might not be the best word...

I think the biggest thing is to use this as any other business tool and come in with a goal in mind.

Say you want to make people feel welcome to this forum. A noble goal indeed. Say hello, friend a new member or someone you like, and then go away.

If you want to "teach," then find a thread/question that needs answered and teach.

I think the biggest thing that has helped me not get sucked into this for 3 hours (and I have before is to come in with a goal in mind. Benefit the forum and it will benefit you.

Cheers,

Brad Spencer

I'm about to employ a piece of software that locks me out of certain sites (like WF) during certain hours of the day.

Then when I need a distraction maybe I'll just do a few sets of pushups and get back to work. Distraction time would be less and health would be better.

This forum has made me money so I won't complain. If all you are doing is reading posts and not implementing the advice then you are not following the spirit of the forum.

It's very addictive so far, but you can take it in a positive light: the knowledge you're learning may be worth not finishing your work hehe.

Hi,

Yes, I usually find myself saying--oh I've got to read that and that and that... Keeps on going. By this time I've usually spent quite a few hours. Thing is while you are learning, you aren't doing anything so at some point you really have to pull yourself out and start making things happen.

You can't learn it all in the beginning--ahh, but the temptation!!!!
