I'm in a popular niche and, since my articles can't get near the first page in google, I've put my efforts into writing long tail phrased articles.
This isn't working either. When I went to my google analytics and saw the long tail phrases that people have typed in order to get to my site, I was surprised to see that 'they didn't make any sense" insofar as me being able to write specific articles about those phrases. Is it just a matter of time? I have about 100 articles and I can potentially write several hundred more. Is it just a matter of patience? Any suggestions? Thanks |

How much competition with "quotes"? Have you tried SEO for your articles(getting links for them etc)? Quote:

Make sure the keywords you choose have relatively high search volume and low competing pages.

Yes, you have to be patient and trust that your efforts will work.
People will find your site using all kinds of weird phrases. Don't be so concerned about this and just continue to write quality articles using keywords that best define your content. You can always find low comp keywords that will land you some traffic and won't take so long to rank as the more competitive keywords. Create a list of keywords that aren't as competitive and then make a blueprint as to how you are going to work to create back links to move those keywords to the top. You can do it, just work hard and be patient Matt |

As Matt said patience
some markets are so competitive it will take a real long time and effort to start seeing rewards I started a golf blog recently one of the highest competitive markets out there, most times I see results real fast with the usual stuff this blog has not even been given a sniff from Google, I find some markets just don't get the right time of day from Google Lately what I am finding is Bing is starting to pick up on many sites lately, could be good things coming ![]() Ed |

Thanks for everyone's input. To answer some of your questions, my niche is in the education field. I've been at it for about 7 months now. I'm trying to combine high search volume words to create my own long tail phrases

Take a look at the thread I wrote regarding how good a keyword is .... Traffic Sucking Keywords . It may very well help you decide upon good long tail keywords.

Videos are often among the top results on google. (especially if you build backlinks to the video for more competitive terms). If you turn your articles into video then you can get to the first page that way. Also you can still target the long tail phrases that may not make sense when writing an article. You use the long tail phrase in your tags but the article itself inside the video doesn't require that exact phrase to rank for those terms. So you can write an article that makes sense and still target the keyword phrase you want. I have a coupon for a tool that will allow you to do this in my sig. Take your 100 articles you have written and copy and paste them to create 100 videos and if you can discover anything more effective than this I want to be the first to know. :-)...seriously.
