Did Aweber Just CRASH?? - Problem - FYI everyone.

This problem's been going on for at least the last 24 hrs,
as we've been trying to create new lists, etc, and our
phone call to them yesterday they confirmed there
were problems.

I know for a fact, that our optins aren't showing up, neither
are our confirm messages.

So be careful if you're driving traffic to AW forms

Yep, this really ticked me off I was able to opt into my own list once last night after several attempts...after noticing that opt ins were absent So it may be on and off. The crazy part is it tells the person who's opting in to expect their e-mail...it just never comes.

    Hi all,

Yes, Aweber, and ALL the private labels are down.

This is incredibly frustrating as my very hefty ad spend in the last few hours has been wasted, and Ive lost about 300 optins.

The forms are not redirecting, so subscribers are just seeing an error page... hmm, just what I wanted!

They need to get their business together, and spend more time on servicing their clients, and less time on increasing the price.

Yo, guys...this is not the first time this has happened.

I've been on the phone with Aweber and they're having database problems.

They expect things to be sorted out soon so stay calm.

Hey, stuff happens. It's part of doing business. If everything worked
perfectly all the time we'd all be a bunch of spoiled children.

By tomorrow, this will just be a bad memory.

PS - I don't even want to tell you how much money I'VE lost today. Guess I'll go back into

Yeah, this also happened a few weeks ago. I remember someone at the time suggesting that somebody should create a script that automatically kicks in when your AR goes down (collects the opt-in names and emails and stores them on your server), then automatically submit them to your AR as soon as it goes back online.

I think that is a GREAT idea. Any php developers looking for a good project? (HINT HINT :-) I bet that would sell big time.

Problem with that is, it's against Aweber's TOS. Tom would shoot it down in about microseconds due to spam concerns. Believe me, I fought that war on another front...and it's a no go.

What you could do is have it switch to a backup autoresponder service, collect the opt ins there instead. At least nothing gets lost in the process.

As much as this sucks, I have to say I understand. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to keep a service running 100% of the time. Coming from a tech & operations background, I've been through many of these outages.

I noticed some problems before when setting up a custom email parser. Sending email to my new list to test the parser would be bounced back. I was told it would be resolved in a day or so.. That was Monday, so it looks like things are getting worse :-/

Here are the numerous problems I have noticed for myself over the last few months:

          1. It is getting harder and harder to search for 'Stored Views' for leads. It hangs or takes a long time.

          2. There was a time where I got tens of thousands of clicks on a broadcast, which was realistically impossible. Asked the rep, had no clue what it was.

          3. Broadcasts are getting delayed if sent out to large subscriber bases (I suppose that is 'normal' though)

          4. More confirmation emails are being delayed, leading to more people questioning the effectiveness of double opt-in (this has been happening for a while)

          5. Sometimes the page will load back to the home page when you're typing out a broadcast message (very frustrating)

          6. Updates and glitches are happening at peak times on working days, rather than in the middle of night when everyone is asleep, leading in lots of lost business.

          What's next I guess?

        Sure. There are alternatives.

At the risk of coming off as too opportunistic, TrafficWave.net has been in business for over 8 years and many of our clients have come to us from Aweber for a number of reasons; the recent price increase being one of them.

For those clients making the switch, we are offering to import their verified lists in to their TrafficWave.net account without requiring double opt-in for that import.

Aweber is a solid company with an excellent track record. I have no doubt that they will get whatever is going on worked out.

I am sorry to hear of the trouble you are experiencing with this current situation.

      Well now I'm VERY worried...

I've got messages on my Aweber screen saying my credit card's expired, no reply address, etc etc, when everything is fine.

The worst bit is, every stat from my lists has GONE. So in a little over an hour, I've gone from around 28,000 sign ups over my lists, to ZERO.

God knows what's going on...maybe those guys in Geneva have made those atoms collide, creating a black hole that has sucked in all my sign ups?

In addition to the problems that were mentioned here before, I had also the following strange things happening to me.

After signing in into my Aweber account there were three messages displayed, telling me...

        1. that I didn't provide a "reply" address for my lists
        2. that my credit card is about to expire and that I should take care of it
        3. that I didn't provide any contact info for my autoresponder messages

        All messages are totally incorrect.

And after having done a test subscription I got the "double opt-in" confirmation message from Aweber, asking me to verify my request, even though I disabled "double opt-in" for this particular list.

Technical problems can happen, of course. But why didn't they send an email to their customers, telling exactly what the problems are, how it will affect us, and how it will take (at least the ballpark) to fix it.

I had the exact same problems yesterday. I also made some mailings to my list yesterday and got virtually no response. I just didn't expect that. But maybe less emails got through than it appears.

Also was unable to mail earlier today. Trust me they've been having lots of technical issues lately. I usually have to call them a few times a week.

But at least you can call them and they tend to be fairly knowledgeable and professional. Let's just hope these issues get resolved soon.

I have actually made a couple of posts over the last few weeks questioning the double optin process Aweber makes you use.

I have since switched to GetResponse and a surprising thing happened...

My open rate became higher and the deliverability looks to be the same according to my stats.

Also I am now using single optin and loving it.

I had an Aweber account for the last 19 months, almost two years. Not any more. I am now a happy GetResponse member.

O and GR also imported my list so I did not lose a single subscriber due to the move.

Is that now standard policy for Get Response to import your lists to their account without an extra optin? Or did you make a special arrangement with them?

Or was it because your list came from Aweber and you showed it to be double opt in?

Aweber has had issues with confirmation emails not being sent for upto 48 hours, according to my own tests.

I know Get Response had issues similar to what Aweber is going through now but GR was still tracking everything and when they fixed the issues the signups showed up where they were suppose to.

If Aweber is setup in similar way then your signups should all be tracked even though they are not showing up. I do NOT have an aweber account and only use them through partners or clients so my knowledge of aweber is limited. I know GR though and they have their systems setup to deal with all these type of issues and redundancy. I can't believe that Aweber wouldn't have the same type of processes setup for their service BUT I do not know for certain one way or the other on that.

They would have announced system maintenance / down time.
        I would have to agree...

Anyone got an iContact affiliate link they wanna throw me?.... think I'm outta here... I respect that it's a part of business, but this has happened often

I missed a complete flippin launch sequence as a result of this...

Hmm, actually not ok, on reflection, it's showing no subscribers for periods yesterday , I guess this is the "delay" they are talking about.

Hope they fix that puppy soon.

I am very mad. I opted in to my own form with 4 different email
addresses and none of them got the confirmation email after 10 hours. Not only that
but aweber doesn't sees them in the database. This has been happening for over 24
hours now. I am about to dump this bullshit and move my lists elsewhere.
I lost quite a bit of money because of this. They said that all the leads are being
tracked, but that simply is NOT true. None of the emails I subscribed with show anywhere
in my aweber account. What a joke! Such downtime is unacceptable in this business.
I would understand 2-3 hours maybe 5, but over 24 hours???? WTF.

I guess it's time to start putting some of those raised fees back into the co.?

It's tripping me on a couple fronts.. but I'll live and I'm confident they'll get everything back. Toms on the case. These type of things happen in this business.. when you are dealing w/ databases and servers..

Threw me off a little bit that my account was telling me to pay my bill this morning, lol.. that confused me and found me here.. but I'm sure that's linked to the other issues seeing I'm not alone.

Don't let this sway you from going with aWeber.. I've been with them for years and they are in the top 2 best autoresponder companies on the web. 99.98% of the time, they are golden. Well.. maybe now it's 98.98%.. but I'm sure that'll recover.
