Will most likely be the end of affiliate marketing on POF.
What do you think???

I think that all good things come to an end, this is probably one of them.

It went to the match.com group for a half-billion dollars.

PlentyOfFish sold to U.S. firm in $575M deal | Toronto Star

I think it is the death of PoF depending on the deal and who is running it.

If match.com is a "hands off" owner and leaves it to the Vancouver things, PoF may have a chance.

But PoF is free and match.com properties are all paid. I think the will kill PoF my switching to their paid model. Or kill it altogether to eliminate competition.

It's too bad. PoF was one of the few dating sites that was not pumped full of more fake profiles than real ones.

PPC worked on PoF because there were a lot of real and engaged visitors.

    I bet that will disappear.

It looks like doom for PoF.

This is a HUGE success story but it's not about whether the site remains a top dating portal.

Frind graduated from school in 1999 - registered and started POF in 2001.By 2004, POF became a full time business for him - but he didn't hire employees until 2008 or so.

In 14 years - one person created one website that has now sold for half a billion dollars....THAT is the success story.

The only thing I see that is "too bad" is - I didn't own the POF site myself

Wow! The online dating industry keeps evolving! I remember the old Love@AOL days when match.com was just getting started. I believe Match is where AOL sent all their people.

My husband and I met through a now-defunct personals site that was sponsored by our local newspaper. Not long after we met though, they shut it down and I think they referred everyone over to Match.

The truth is, nobody here cares about success stories that don't involve making just a few million selling snake oil Clickbank.

This is great for Marcus of pof, he did a great job on developing pof.
Perhaps this is why pof stopped accepting new advertisers a while back? What's next? Who knows

    What an inspirational story.

    He had a vision.

    He had focus.

    He had persistence.

If Marcus Frind can do it, WE can do it too.

Congrats to Marcus Frind and Match.Com

Nooooo . What a shame. I wonder how match.com will start spam pof members to join their premium membership, it might be a great opportunity for a new POF alternative out there.

I paid $1000 to use POF profile ads, have targeted US Females 35-44, paid the top recommended bid and have 11 impressions after a few weeks.
They don't answer support, email or phone and the phone number on the dashboard shows unlisted on a reverse phone number lookup.

In my opinion, affiliate marketing on POF started a downtrend years ago...and now that Match bought them, I'd expect some big changes. I haven't used POF in a long time, but there's always another option out there and angle to market your products.
