Firefox blocks Adobe Flash. Alternative video player to YouTube?

Hi!

As you may know, Firefox now blocks adobe Flash.

This means that YouTube videos don't play in the browser, unless the user specifically activates flash in their browser, for that site and browsing session. This happens on the YouTube.com domain as well.

Many people embed YouTube videos on their sites - either video salesletters, or just video content. But it will be a hassle for their visitors to activate flash every time they visit their sites.

Is there a workaround to it? A way to play videos that isn't flash? Let's suppose that we have the raw video file available.

Maybe an HTML5 player that streams the .mp4 file?

Thanks!

    ????

YouTube uses HTML5 as its default player for almost every browser now, and has been for months.

I suggest you to update your flash player because flash player gets some serious vulnerability which allow hackers to take control of your PC using flash player. That is the reason that Firefox has blocked the flash player until you update it.

Firefox has blocked the flash player regardless of what patch level of flash you have installed. Upgrading to the latest version of Flash does not automatically allow Flash videos to be shown.

You get a notice at the top of the browser window when a flash player is invoked in the browser. You get the opportunity to override the block if you desire, but then if you are hacked as a result - at least you were warned.

I never had that type of problem. I manually upgrade the flash player and never have any problem of showing videos. I can watch them without any problem.

It is not a regular phenomenon. For me it happened on and off, but when it did happen, I had no option but to restart browser
