Traffic for a webcomic

What segment of the population are likely to read a "random humor" webcomic?

I'm trying to get traffic to my webpage and so far I'm targeting Facebook, Twitter, and Forums.

Just not sure who is most likely to return to my website, donate, and eventually buy items in the store, etc.

Where you go to reach people for such a comic?

Just a thought... Have you thought about uploading a few of your comics onto Imgur and link to your comic site - or put the website address at the bottom of the comic with a signature?

Web comics seem to do well on Tumblr. Try to find other web comic pages there and see if they will reblog your posts. Or follow the people that are liking the web comic posts.

Wow, these are really great ideas. So, so far:

    1. Imagur with a watermark/signature to my site
    2. Tumblr - search for similar comic blogs and ask to reblog my posts / follow those who are liking comic posts

The lack of niche specialization of your webcomic is actually its greatest asset.

The fact that you're not focusing on a particular niche and you're simply looking to entertain a wide group of people is your greatest strength.

With that said, you need to understand that effective online marketing is all about return on effort.

You don't want to get a long list of marketing platforms together and spend all your hours hitting all those platforms and ending up with very little to show for it.

Instead, I would attack your marketing problem in a systematic and methodical way.

First, I would hire a virtual assistant.

For $75 or so, you can get somebody to create a list of websites you can advertise on.

This is not just a simple list; it has sign-up forms and, if you pay a little bit extra, they can sign up accounts for you.

Basically, they will do all the heavy lifting for you.

You can even add filters like domain authority or page maps or estimated traffic filters for absolutely free.

Once your virtual assistant has given you all these websites, you can then hire another virtual assistant or the same assistant to create credible-looking accounts.

This is especially important for places like Tumblr and Reddit.

Both Tumblr and Reddit deliver a huge amount of traffic.

The problem is that you need to look credible.

At the very least, your account needs to be real.

This is where your virtual assistant comes in.

Again, for around $75 you can hire somebody who knows what they're doing to create realistic-looking accounts.

We're not just talking about these two websites.

We're talking about over 100 or 200 different accounts.

Once you're done with setting up your accounts, you can then log into these accounts and just [B[drip-feed[/B] your content until you hit all your complete list of websites.

Next, you wait and pay attention to your statistics.

You would realize that if you hit 200 websites, maybe 20% of them would send real traffic.

Of that 20% or 40 websites, about 10% to 25% would send substantial traffic.

This is really important information because you can then focus your firepower on those websites that actually send consistently high traffic.

    Fine-tune your messaging there.

Work to build a solid brand.

And you'd be surprised as to how popular your brand could be.

It all begins by establishing a wide reach in the beginning.

This is why you need to get hold of the right virtual assistant.

If you need help with this type of outsourcing, just let me know or ask in a separate thread.

There are many people here who are very familiar with virtual assistants.

The VA's that I get are people with proven ability to do this kind of work.

I don't screw around with people who are complete newbies or who expect me to subsidize their learning curves.

I don't have time for such games.

Your idea seems quite intense. Not sure I quite understand it, but I think you're basically saying that I should have someone create accounts on many related websites and build credibility on all those websites from which to draw traffic?

OK so the best place to get traffic is at another web comic blog so you can start contacting bloggers and asking them what their rates are.

Project Wonderful has already done the hard work for you. They have hundreds of small struggling web comics. Most are very hungry for some easy green. They would love to advertise your web pages.

    TIPS:
    • Find web comics similar to yours
    • Sell physical items on your site - like T-shirts
    • Please use social media responsibly to increase your presence
