Domain name expiry question

INTERNET MARKETING

Hi warriors,

I am looking to purchase a particular domain name for which the previous owner's registration has expired. The date for this expiry was the 25th July.

However, the domain name is still listed as registered and I am unable to purchase the domain at the moment due to this.

The previous owner has not renewed the domain yet and if they do not do so within the next few days, how long will it be before the domain name is available to purchase?

You have a long wait, but if it's a good domain, it will likely be grabbed by a service like SnapNames the second it's available. Still worth watching of course. Here's the expiration cycle:

ICANN | Life Cycle of a Typical gTLD Domain Name

If the domain is important enough to you, you can place a backorder with SnapNames, usually for $59 or so if you're the first one to do so. If others become interested, they may outbid you.

I think the real expire date can also vary from registrar to registrar?

I agree, can take some time.
