Good reason to opt in on a Web Design page?

Hey guys, I am currently operating a small web design company online. I am wanting to direct some traffic to my website. When I do decide to direct some traffic, I will be adding a opt in.

Now what are some good reasons to have someone opt it?

I could offer an ebook (write one myself) or free consultation, but what is really going to hook them?

Also in the opt in should I be collecting names and phone numbers, or just emails?

What do you guys think?

As you are a web design company. then offer some free web templates in exchange of email. People will hook up, if you occasionally give some discounts or offers on your services or templates.

I'd offer a small eBook along the lines of

7 Questions you're web designer doesn't want you to ask

You then load the questions to make your web design agency the best.

We've done something similar for a client and it converts really well when you place it alongside the right positioning.

What is going to hook them? Persistent selling through email, along with constant pitching of your web design services - combined with repetitive visits to your website.

I would collect just the name and email on the squeeze page/landing page. If they like what you have to offer, they'll contact you.

Just ONE thing that your target audience could benefit from....pdf usually does the trick or a short video

i wouldn't ask for anymore than you need, as in don't ask for the numbers if you don't plan on jumping on the phone with your prospect

otherwise you'll be compromising your optin rate for nothing

If you are planning to give away freebies as a lure to get people to opt in, you should do something targeted directly to the niche audience of your online web design site.

Examples would be an ebook on "10 Most Asked Questions When Designing a Website" or basic web templates that your potential customers can use to have a feel of your style and get them to pay if they want something more customized.

I would advise against giving free consultation service as that would require your effort in answering to each and every unique questions your customers will pose to you. This will take up a significant amount of time and energy, which is not something you want to do for leads which are not guaranteed to earn you cash. Put that effort into something more productive like generating additional traffic instead!

WHY do you want this information? Is it to sell web design services? Are you creating a web design course to supplement your design services? Just want a list because people say you should have a list?

WHAT are you going to send them after they sign up?

Answer those questions, and you can start mapping out a strategy for building a list that will actually help you accomplish your goals.

As you ponder those questions, keep in mind that your opt-in has two jobs to perform.

First, it should lure the people you want on the list (potential leads or course students in the scenarios above).

Second, it should filter out the people you don't want on the list.

The main way you do both on the opt-in page is by making your benefit and your lead magnet (the freebie) specific enough to appeal to first but not to the second.
