I just purchased flynax full page package for 595$ thinking it's a great investment and I will be starting a Classified ads website for my main project?

What do you guys think? Great investment for your eyes or not ?

Never heard of flynax myself, so can't say. Obviously with a classified site your competing with the grand daddy craigslist. Might be tough to get a piece. Though people have said they've done okay when they narrow it down and even localize it.

Sure some one will chime in with better knowledge on the subject than me

You can take a look at here.
#1 Classifieds Software | Classifieds Scripts for Cars & Real Estate

It's more of a classified script.

I'm mainly going to use it to market through Real Estate or Automobiles

A quick Google search for classified ad sites will revel TONS of poorly designed and empty classified ad sites.

I personally believe you just lit $595 on fire.

I tried that myself about a year ago. Personally, I believe that what I did wrong was that I didn't apply myself. It would have taken a bigger commitment than I was prepared to make at the time.

I hope you have more success than I did.

Something tells me that you didn't actually do this yet. If you plan on doing this, I would lower your expectations. SEOing a landing page isn't going to get you thousands of subs in a few weeks. It will probably get you little to none.

IMO these pre-fab classified ad scripts are for people who have an existing userbase such as a busy forum, blog with active commenters, etc... If your dream is to be the next Craigslist or Gumtree you should learn how to program it yourself so that you can add your own features unique to you.

Actually that is one thing i am hitting up. Some things i would be targeting in that are used college books ( frat jackets) items for frat house ( used gadgets) and etc

Reason for why i bought that because i already have a steady userbase if you have again read my replies in this thread you would know.
Me and my partner currently own shopping website. zalora.com which is targeting asian countries.

again please read my replies thank you.

What will be the difference between your classified ads site versus:

    - Craigslist
    - Ebay Classifieds
    - Usfreeads

    Thank you for that.
    Will do.

And to the guys that ask on how i can compete with large classified ads site.

Simple. By getting targeted prospect buyers first before sellers thinking of providing an event per or per month.
Example events that revolve around the same as you see on car deals such as free accessories | registration insurance and what not. That are just some events. Of course that even is applicable for owned and brand new cars.

You can check my other classified site. It's zalora.com i am partnered up with guy from malaysia and we put this up. and we marketed it through local stations and social networks and as you can see it's pretty good set up.

More on protection from buyers and sellers and what not. Contract agreements to ensure everything is exact and both clients are satisfied and a middleman system. That is some things i'm going to implement on the site

Starting a classified ads site is not the problem.

The problem for the most part is because you have so many competitors.

You have to remember that Craig’s List and BackPages are the huge players in that space.

The good news is that there are still a lot of geographic spaces that the big players can’t touch or won’t touch.

This is where the opportunity is.

You need to use your classified ad software to target neglected geographic regions.

Thankfully, this information is readily available.

The US Census Bureau has information on population distributions throughout all areas of the United States.

You might want to start there.

Keep in mind that Craig’s List services most metropolitan areas.

But there are lots of suburbs and outlying regions that they don’t touch.

    The same goes with BackPage.

You might want to start with low-hanging fruit and then scale up to more competitive territories.

Forget about people telling you that there is no room for competition.

There will always be room for better competition and no room for worthless competition.

I hope you can tell the difference.

    Worthless competitors are copycats.

They don’t bring anything new to the table and they’re not willing to work.

However, if you’re willing to roll-up your sleeves and look for those neglected regions and seek to cater to them directly, you can gain a
competitive base from which you could scale out and make serious money.

    Such wise words.
Yes i am currently targeting them. Going out with small people then diving it into the business hoping the word of mouth and good reviews and experience will be my ticket for advertising

There is absolutely nothing to worry about. All you have to do is to find and use the correct traffic source. Never worry about the competition, since it will always be there in the in-demand niches.
A classified ads website can be a gold mine (there are many ways to monetize such sites). Just as an example if you run a pets classified ads website, you could promote pets related offers. Since majority of people who will sing-up on your classified ads website will be in one way or another interested in pets related offers/affiliate products. e.g. Pet insurance offers etc.etc. This is just one example. There are many lucrative niches.

  • Tough gig as others have mentioned.

    Unless...

The project you mentioned is a niche that may benefit from classifieds with less competition. I'm curious to know what it is.

Big general classifieds are hard to build and maintain. There are some WordPress plugins/themes that can handle it but if it gets big performance may be a problem.

Actually those big classified websites that everyone else is talking about here and how will i rival them.
      Simply I won't.
That's why my classified ads website is to target a specific niche.
cars | real estate | college or undergrad students | jobs and what not .

I'm not going to hassle myself by implementing all those instantly and simultaneously like i have said i will be taking it slow targeting one niche and be sure it's stable then dwelling to the next one.

My progress is i got leads and prospects for my real estate and cars classified ads site.
Of course i'm focusing on those suburbs and little cities in each state that doesn't get any impression at all. That's what i'm doing going to small cities developing my name and then expanding.

FYI - probably the only sites that are built and abandoned more frequently than directory sites are classifieds sites.

Outside of the Top 10, can you show me a classifieds site that has more than a handful of listings? If you can, it is the extremely rare exception, and far from the rule.

        Not telling you not to pursue your dream . . . . . . .wait a minute . . . . . . . . actually, I think I might be doing exactly that.

I suggest you do your research and then think long and hard before investing any time and money. Just like with a directory site you should make your listings free of charge because without thousands of listings, you don't have a site that will be worth visiting. Free listings, then up-sell and market other services to your advertisers. It is almost impossible to get your site to be commercially viable in any other way.

        Cheers. - Frank

Thank you for those words it may be offensive it may make me stop and think if i should be going through or not but i will not be affected with anything of what you said.

In my previous replies above i have mentioned my ways and what are my progress and what kind of classified sites i have been doing back then so i definitely know my ropes in this.

Again why are you guys really on the negative side. another one user who doesn't read my threads again and just stereotyping like the rest of you guys.

Like i said why would i compete directly with the big companies and targeting them one by one if i can just target the untapped niches ( jobs, college undergrad, learning materials, medical supplies and etc) and inner/outer cities of each state that is not marketed often.

One man's negative comment is another man's concerned warning. Perceive it how you will. Nothing I can do about that.

Everyone always has a great reason why their effort will be different. It never makes a difference. They generally state how, "they'll show us!" And then we never, ever hear from them, again.

All I know is what I have seen over the years. Those are referred to as facts. If you can show me something different, more power to you. You'll get to go down in WF history as the first person to ever prove me wrong. Go for it. lol

I do wish you success. I just believe the the likelihood of achieving any real success (money) in classifieds sites is extremely small. That's all.

            Cheers. - Frank
