"What Can I Do To Make This Work For You?"

I think I got this sentence off Early To Rise newsletter but it talks about how Billy Mays used this sentence to sell millions of product 20 bucks at a time.

Has anyone applied this to a sales page? I find it VERY hard to read a customer I can't even see/dialog with.

I have seen the exit scripts going to live help but I have to be honest, I would never type into one. They are annoying.

How do you start this dialog with an online customer?

Ideas?

My overall experience, and this is backed up by the likes of Michel Fortin, is that the time tested headlines work the best. I even did a mailing for a client in the information security sector with the headline "They Laughed When I Told Them... [whatever] Until They Saw The Resuts" and it got 4-5% returns, prospects calling in. They had never gotten a single response from any mailing. I hesitated because the headline is so old and corny, but it worked!! Look at advertising from about 1890 through the 1960's and you will find the best headlines. Don't leave out mail order pages in old magazines. They are pure gold.
