Market research and SEO

Hi! I saw a couple of days ago, a video in which a well know successful online marketer explained how to do some market and keyword analysis research with an application called Market Samuraï. This guy was recommending this product so I was willing to give it a try. I tried several times to click and download the free version and also to pay for the full version but the links on their website seems not working.

I don't know if I can post the link to his video so that's why I didn't post it.

I would like to know if some of you have already bought or try Market Samuraï and if they recommend it? Or maybe, there is another place, another application with which to do some market research and keyword analysis?

I'm completely new into this so I really need your help!

I personally use Long Tail Pro. Between this or Market Samurai you cant go wrong. I am sure below you will have about equal amounts of people saying the like the one or the other.

*** Did you load Adobe Air before loading market Samurai? http://get.adobe.com/air/

Yes I just downloaded Adobe Air with your link but nothing works.

I do have the platinum version and for one reason and one reason only. unlike any other product it displays a number between 1 and 100 that basically says YES you can rank for this term or NO don't even try.. with a dash of are you feeling lucky somewhere in the middle there. It basically compresses all the visible data and gives you the decision maker number. For that alone.. worth every penny!

Somebody just sent me by email those links. We can see that Market Samuraï is not very well evaluated. We can see also that there is a bunch of other applications.

the only problem I have with any of these tools is they are based on Google keyword planner data for the majority of their information

when everyone uses the same data with the same techniques it only make it harder to compete

anything to do with keyword planner and their search data I personally stay away from it other than creating a keyword list to evaluate with other tools that don't use the keyword planner

Hello and welcome to the forum. You do not need to use a paid tool in order to do market or keyword research. For market research, you can use like the magazine section of Amazon or a similar site. The reason is because magazines, by their very nature, are already broken down into niches. If you prefer, you can start out with a hobby. The overwhelming majority of people are already part of a profitable niche in which they already own products but don't know it.

After you figure out which niche you want to go into, you can further break it down by using the free Google planner keyword tool (info comes from Google). Before you get a domain, you should also find some products you want to promote ahead of time. If you're in a niche in which you already own products, you could write about one of those (as long as it is being searched for). If you plan to create a larger site with a lot of reviews and articles on it, choose a more general domain name that relates to your niche. Don't use brand names and stuff like that.

MS is a solid research tool and I never personally have faced such problem, it would suck if they went under!

Thanks for your help everybody. I am waiting a few more days so I can take the time to analyse the different options offered to me.

Is there someone else that tried Market Samuraï or any other market analysis software? Or maybe, like Miguelito203 you are not using any?

Just let me know what you think.

      Thanks again

  • I love Market Samurai but I only used it for a time since I find it too complicated for me. What I love using (and I would recommend this tool for beginners) is Traffic Travis, which also provides pretty much the same features as Market Samurai. I guess, all of these tools in SEO offers the same features and it is just a matter of preference and 'likeability' when it comes to choosing which tool works for each user.

I tried to use MS many years ago. The results were so "iffy" that I still had to do the research manually.

I found doing it manually was much faster and produced much more reliable results. I've found the majority of "tools" people recommend to be totaly unnecessary, for me anyway.
