How To Sell Your Kindle Business?

I have a Kindle publishing business that I would like to sell and was curious if anyone knew the best way of going about it? I keep hearing that you can somehow put it up on Flippa.com but I don't see how to even list it.

If anyone else has any personal experience doing this already then I would love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Nick

If you're talking about buying the rights to ebooks you have written, I have done this. What questions did you have?

Thanks for your response. I currently have 2 different KDP accounts with roughly 200 books. I am just looking for potential buyers and don't really know where to start. Flippa by nature seems like a good place to start looking for interested buyers but that's more geared towards websites of course.

Where did you find your buyer?
Do they just take ownership over your KDP account and all content associated?

Any further guidance would be helpful

      Thanks!

First, to clarify: I was the buyer, not the seller. Sorry for the confusion. (It's 2am here, and I couldn't sleep, so I logged into WF instead.)

Wow. What are you making each month? And why would you sell that income stream?

What about the recent change where you're only paid per page read; how is that affecting your income?

I found one seller here in WF, and another one on Reddit.

In both cases, we signed agreements to assign the intellectual property rights, and then, yes, we transferred the KDP accounts plus content.

With both accounts and everything linked to them I have been pulling in about $20-$30K a month. Yes Kindle did make some recent changes but we won't know how that effects anything for a few more weeks yet. I am just choosing to explore the option of cashing out to invest a bunch of money in a different business at this time.

Did you find someone selling on WF just from a message posted on the boards?

          Thanks again for your time?

Yes, in both cases, the seller posted first, much like you did; not to a specific sub-forum or anything.

Wow; that's certainly an impressive portfolio. And that, in turn, may spell a problem for you. You'll have to convince someone of the merit of such a transaction, and ensure that said person has that kind of cash on hand. I have no idea how many people are doing this sort of thing, but I doubt it's a very robust market (yet). Sorry.

Just a clarification for those following this thread. *Page per read payment* affects only books in KDP Select that are borrowed thru KU - Kindle Unlimited. Books purchased outright are still paid based on the sales amount and the applicable percentage ;-)

Correct. But it's still having an effect on some. Obviously, people who have written well should have little to worry about. Others, well....

Yes, but not an issue for those who are not Amazon exclusive ;-)

That's impressive, we have a client doing about £12k a month that's to 50 books. They aim to sell out to one of the two industry big boys.

Are you books connected or do they cover various niches?

    I've got 99 problems but a niche ain't one

My books cover various niches. I have a series in the womens health and weight loss niche that's got a good email list connected to it for back end opportunities. I also have a lot of books in the fiction/romance market connected to a decent sized e-mail list. Then a lot of random niche books generating money as well. Most if not all have paperbacks linked to them and a few have audio book options.

If you're looking to sell your line of Kindle books, you're definitely in the right place.

You need to create documentation that proves that [B[you own all the intellectual property[/B] to your Kindle materials.

Also, make sure that you have the right legal documentation and contracts to be signed.

Make no mistake about it, intellectual property is for all intents and purposes the same physical properties.

You can buy and sell and lease this type of property.

However, for you to get buyers, they have to have some sort of legal reassurance that whatever you are selling won't be yanked out from under them and there won't be any unforeseen wrinkles down the road.

It's really important to know at this point whether the 200 Kindle books that you're saying you have access to are completely yours.

Do you have full IP rights to them?

How big are these books, how much of a revenue stream are you getting from them?

Depending on your answers to these questions, selling your Kindle business through Flippa
might not be a hot idea.

You might get a higher price if you sell it to either another exchange or through forums.

The OP states, "I have been pulling in about $20-$30K a month", (post #5 above). This implies a sale price in the mid six figures. Personally, I'm thinking a dedicated business broker might identify an appropriate buyer better than a public forum, but that's just a guess.
