New email marketing tool that's a game changer

I got an email today from GetResponse about a new feature they just rolled out. It's supposedly increases open rates by 23% and click rates by 20%.

Perfect Timing - Boost your subscribers engagement with mailings delivered exactly when they

What they say they're doing is... They are sending each email out individually to your subscribers based off of previous open and click times.

What do you guys think? Actual game changer for email marketing?

I wonder how that would work for solo ads.

You sell a solo ad and blast your list trying to get that 100 clicks asap for the solo ad buyer and your autoresponder throttles your email delivery and delays sending emails according to your list's behaviour.

Is the delay a hinderance to managing your solo ads?

Or does their strategy actually increase click-throughs and maybe a better end result for your solo ad buyers?

I think too early to say if it is a "game changer" without some real testing.

Is it an option you can activate or deactivate through your GR user panel?

Personally, I see this having little to no effect.

If they do indeed have and are in fact using the data they say they are I can see where this could provide some nice increases in the numbers.

Well, it sounds good, and it's one more "feature" they can add to their sales message, so from that standpoint it will help GetResponse in the acquisition of customers...

But your subscriber will receive that mail, regardless of when it was sent, or when they decide to check it.

I sometimes have my email client open continuously on my laptop for a couple of weeks at a time, and will check incoming mails 20-30 times per day.

When I'm in the middle of a big project and want to avoid interruption, I only open my email client once/twice per day.

Regardless, I don't ignore yesterday's incoming mail - do you?

Maybe I'm a little bit anal, but once I open my email client, I can't stand the thought of unopened mails sitting there in my inbox. I flip through every last one, and then I either delete it, read it, or send it to a folder where I can easily find it again later.

It really doesn't matter when it was sent, and it doesn't matter when I get around to checking my mail... if it's not spam it will get read.

I have to wonder if their real reason doesn't have more to do with managing their own outgoing mail and their users expectations. If your email is delayed (for any reason) they now have a built in excuse. Instead of "our mail servers were down", they could now tell you "Oh - that's a new feature we have to optimize the time of delivery based on your recipient's typical behavior/habits". You would never know the difference.

PS - I'm not saying this is what GR is doing, but I do think that should not be implemented across the board. The list owner should be able to opt in/out of using this feature on an individual list and/or broadcast message basis.

I saw that feature and it looks great, a game changer I'm not too sure but definitely something that I will try out.

Yeah, I saw that too and thought it was pretty interesting. $15 per month for this service. At the very least, it's worthwhile testing out to see if open rates really do increase.
