Do Women Have The Edge Over Men?

My guess is there are many more men here than women.

And in day to day living women are usually far better at
connecting with others than men.

Which makes me wonder do women have the edge and
an advantage when it comes to IM?

You probably have a point there. It could be that while men make the most
of IM, women are probably not taking advantage of the opportunities they
could do. And if they did would do far better than they think.

I don't see too much of an issue with that. If people in general are more interested in women than men, just register yourself as a female and use a profile picture of an attractive individual. The constrains of real life are often not applied on the internet. That is one of the magics it has.

Interesting subject. This is a point I gently brought up a year and a half ago and was reamed by many men in this forum (shocker huh). In fact, I thought I might need security to escort me around this Forum for the first week after posting it.

It merely showed the advantages women have over men and how men can adapt it to their advantage as well (if they choose to).

        Warning! General Statement Coming!
I think some men here took it as meaning women were superior to men. But in essence they are superior when it comes to expressing "certain qualities" that's compatible to marketing success.

Instead of repeating the highlights here's the link.

I think that anyone who has a great sense of empathy will do well online, male or female. You have to be able to get into someone's head and understand what they want in order to have your best chances of getting an affiliate sale or recommending your product successfully.

Women on a whole tend to be more naturally empathetic than men, so perhaps that's why we tend to do better in certain areas.

If you take a good look at all of the heavy hitting gurus out there who are male you do notice that they are all very similar in their demeanor, thoughtfulness and their understanding of what their audience really wants.

So while women may have an edge by nature, men also do very well with IM if they understand and apply the principles that lead to success.

As a woman I often feel as if I have an instant advantage over men.

Many people assume that women are passive and soft in daily life as well as in business, and therefore are not perceived as an immediate threat. People underestimate my abilities.

Some would consider this view to be unfair or sexist, but I use it to my full advantage - smiling my way up the corporate ladder

That's a confident attitude, going into the game feeling you have an instant advantage over men.

Is that because you feel they underestimate you or don't take you seriously in the corporate world?

So, do you find that same advantage in online marketing? Just curious.

Broad brush strokes and generalizations typically lead to questions that have vague answers and hold little insight.

Here's your answer to the question above: Sometimes.

If you're talking about marketing children's clothes, then I would say "yes" women IMers probably have an advantage over men.

If you're talking about marketing men's camouflaged hunting pants, then I would say "no" women don't have an advantage over men.

IMO, it's only when you get into specifics that such questions have meaning and can be answered with any degree of authority.

I'm not sure gender plays a role in ones success. BUT...... I do know that some people here are MEN but like to masquerade around here as WOMEN.

Not sure if this is because they've found more success this way or if it's deeeper than that....... like a sort of deep-rooted "sexual fantasy" being played out.

Seems that someone very popular here for years has been masquerading as a woman. How they discovered that I'm still dying to know. I was MIA for a few weeks when it happened, and when I came back here I picked up from all the hints dropped that it was the case... Pretty freaky.

Btw, the reason I put up a pic of myself (even though I was so shy when I first got on here) is because my name is most commonly a male name (but in my community is only a female name). Not that anyone gives two hoots about me or who I am, but in communication I would prefer they knew who they were talking to!

Niche Man, a very well-known and outspoken person who did this here (at the WF) didn't even want his real name associated with any of his "business" ventures. So I'm sure you can guess the motivations behind that part, at least.

Not sure. People "role play" for many different reasons. In the case of one member here, after all the "fact finding" my guy did, it appears to be deeper rooted than just a marketing stunt.

    In a way, yes.

But also in general, men are more ambitious than women and have an edge in that regard. There's a reason there are a lot more men interested in being entrepreneurs. I don't think it's due to any built-in advantage. I just think it's a difference in ambition and the drive to succeed.

No, it's not. It's scientifically proven that male counterparts of most mammal species have a higher tolerance to risk and uncertain situations. That is pretty much the life of an ambitious entrepreneur, isnt it?

I'm a male and I use hot female models for marketing purposes. Though I never claimed to be a woman since my full name is on some of my social networks. But many savvy marketers apply this method and it goes way beyond IM. If you want to sell something, anything, just put an attractive female model on it.

Look at Hugh Hefner for instance. Would you think that he would've made all that money if he was on the cover of every issue of Playboy magazine?

I must admit I didn't know all of that was going on behind the scenes at the W.F. I need to get out of the house or out of town more. Living in Los Angeles is making me too innocent. Funny how women notice certain things so much faster than men. Looking back, women have been my #1 warning bell to bring attention to butt saving things I miss.

I read an article on Forbes and another on a different business site recently - they were discussing results of a recent study of online entrepreneurs.

The conclusions were interesting and what I see here with new marketers seems to back up those conclusions.

Here is how the study conclude men and women entrepreneurs differ when starting an online business.....

Men: Begin at a young age - 18-30 was the norm in the study. The men most often are either supported by family or live at home with parents - have little offline work experience - fund their online startup with money borrowed from family or angel investors.

Women: Start online business much older - 40-60 was the average. They are self supporting and often retired from offline work or secure in the day jobs. They fund their online activities with their own savings or personal credit lines.

The conclusion of the study was that assumptions that men took more risks online might be false. The articles noted that losing it all and failing is not as traumatic if someone else is paying to put food on the table and keept the power on. Also noted was that men value the persona of "risk taker" while women starting a business online are focused more on success/earning than on how they appear to others.

I know it's surprising - but I LIKED those articles

Almost ALL of the pleas for help from new marketers who don't want to work for "the man", can't afford to buy anything or invest anything....are from young male WF members.

When it comes to intuition and empathy I would tend to agree with you that women do have an edge over men.

When it comes to sales, empathy and intuition are required.

You have to remember that sales is all about the call-and-response process.

You send out some signals and you pay attention to the signals your prospect sends back.

If you have a tough time putting yourself in the shoes of your prospect or even listening to your prospect, chances are you're not going to make that sale.

Many guys still are able to make a huge number of sales, but can you imagine how much more money they could be making if they showed more empathy?

Women in general have a higher degree of intuition, empathy, and compassion than men.

Of course this is a generalization.

But this is a very important point of distinction that men can learn from.

Regardless of your gender, if you want to be a better salesperson, you have to put yourself in the shoes of prospect.

You have to look at the particular sale situation from the eyes of your prospect.

Instead of just thinking about how the deal would benefit you, focus on how the deal would benefit your prospect and you increase the likelihood of you closing that sale.

These empathy and intuition are keys, and on these points women have the edge over men.

In my experience, I think women are most honest and stuff whereas a lot of male marketers tend to lie and go for hype. When it comes to demographics, I think that internet marketing is just a male-dominated field, but I think you also have to consider the way money is made. I think that women who are into making money online are probably into things like Kindle and writing stuff than like blogging (unless it's like fashion or things that women tend to be more interested in than men, stereotypically-speaking.

i assume you are a man, why not you create a separate personality to start a new internet business.

a new female name, a female photo, a female brand name, female everything.....

there are two advantage for doing this as you assume that female marketer is better attactive than man

    1. this female portfolio you created can be mainly used to promote products for someone who attracted by female

    2. once you get to the point that both of your business are on the track, then you can do cross promotion each other
