Default Trying To Increase My Blog Rating...

I've just started to blog and I'm trying to learn the best ways to move up the ranks. I've heard of pinging my blog and backlinks. The thing is, I don't really know what that means.

As far as I know, pinging is telling sites that your blog exists.

As far as I know, setting backlinks is commenting on other blogs and then putting a link to your blog in your comment.

Is this all correct? Is there a certain way you have to set your backlink to be acceptable?

And lastly (whew, sorry lots of questions) how do I ping my blog? I'm using blogger at the moment.

Thanks for any help warriors!

Sort of. A ping is just a way to tell a robot script, "hey I got some new stuff on this website, come check it out."

A backlink is any link that you can point back at your site from anywhere else. It doesn't have to be in blog comments, though commenting and backlinking from blog posts related to your blog's topic is an easy and sensible way to go about it.

You want to link back to your site using the text that you'd like to rank for. Other than that, not really. There is some ongoing discussion about whether you want to focus on dofollow/nofollow links, but I think that current developments in SEO show that those tags don't matter as much as previously thought.

I'd just focus on the relevancy of your backlinks. If you make a link that a human user would like, it's a link the search spiders will most likely count.

Thanks for any help warriors!
Blogger will ping a comprehensive pinging service automatically as long as you have it set to be publicized in your settings.

You can start with social bookmarkings. If you put up a new entry, try submitting to sites like Digg and Folkd. Start building back links through blog commenting to relevant blog posts with your link in it.

Adding on to what ewayne said, you could also use social networks (I use twitter). Whenever I make a new blog entry, I tweet about it.

This is great information about how to go about blogging, I have used backlinks using anchor text on other people's blogs as well as on their squidoo pages to build traffic back to my sites as well.

Do follow links is a attribute that is functioned as for permit Google search engine to include links in a site as backlinks. By this mean website site that has many links in many do follow will optimized well.
Contrarly No follow is an attribute as sign for search engine to not include the links as backlink. Generally the meaning of do follow and no follow is like what already you read. The defaultly website is set to do follow site.
To know it is no follow r do follow site we can see over firefox. Simply right click at the link, then click on property. The seem will can be said as no follow when there is no follow as attribute. Meanwhile it will not stated as n follow if the site is do follow.

Hi,
All that you mention about No Follow and Do Follow is true as, commenting on Do Follow blogs results in sharing of page rank, which is good.

Thanks!!
