Deciding what to use to set up a membership site

I'm trying to decide what to use to set up a membership site. I purchased Wishlist member 5 years ago and still have a license, but does it have an affiliate program I can use for my products. Does it have a forum?

What other options would you all recommend?

Thanks

I typically like to poke into other membership sites and look at their source code if I like them to see what is under the hood.

Then research the plugins/programs you find and search google for reviews on them to catch what is good and bad about them.

If you search the forum, you'll find many, many recent threads on this subject that should help you find good options.

I am partial to amember pro.

Jack do you find it to be difficult to set up. I've heard that it isn't very easy.

Take a look at Membergate. It's the most complete, all-in-one membership solution I have found. Yes, it has a forum. Yes, it has an affiliate program. Yes, it has a shopping cart and digital download. It also has built-in video and audio players, podcasting, built-in blog, image gallery, classified ads, surveys, multiple membership levels, content syndication, discussion groups, 4 levels of security, SEO optimized code, automatic sign-up, member and public viewing, and a whole bunch of other things. It's all set up for you and very intuitive.

It's not the cheapest solution - some would say it's expensive; however, consider that a few members every month will pay for the cost of the application.

As I was searching for the best membership software, everything else on the market had to have add-ons to give me everything I wanted. This truly is an all-in-one solution and it's very stable.

You may want to consider 'affiliate WP' for affiliate integration. It hooks into WooCommerce nicely and they also have a lifetime commission add-on which makes a good sell when it comes time for affiliate recruitment. Good luck!

Also depends on your content Alyssa. What type of content do you see loaded within your membership site? Do you see updating it frequently? Do you want to also sell "stuff" from within the site (one-time sale?" Will you be using video to deliver content? How many members do you see yourself ramping to?

My recommendation is always to stay as simple as you can but tailoring the technology to your needs looking ahead at least 1-year.

In my case, I use Membergate because it has a large # of content management, shopping cart and overall membership management features which fits my need for a site that gets updated a few times a week, makes use of video, incorporates a private mentor forum, has no recurring fee (other than support), etc...

If I had content that was rather static, but wanted to deliver it via membership model, I would likely go with something less bulky - really depends on your business.

Never sure why Digital Access Pass doesn't get more love. I would say between Amember Pro and DAP, they are the most powerful membership softwares available. And it is not hard to add a forum and protect it with DAP. It already integrates Simple Press, Buddypress and others or Xenforo and Vbulletin if you want to go heavy duty. Add on that it has an integrated affiliate tracking system and integrates with practically everything. It should be at the top of everyones list

It can look daunting at first but if you follow the tutorials from the site, they show you how to set it all up.

      • I have now owned Dap and keep paying for extended support for over 7 years and I still have not used it. I should just admit defeat. It is too complicated for me to figure out. I even paid them to help me set it and connect a forum and every time I start to try to use it I get overwhelmed.
It is very old school looking on the back end and very techie. Him and his wife are programmers and it shows.
It seems like it can do anything you would want but I have never bought a product and not used it like this before.
I am getting it updated to the latest version and I am going to force myself to sit through all their tutorials, which I find hard to listen to and give it one final attempt. I will update if I finally get it and start to use it.

    Hello,

There is no single membership software that can do it all. You have to install multiple plugins for

    Membership
    Affiliate
    Shoppingcart
    Autoresponder
