Default Drumming up business in a book store?

Hello,

I wanted to share something interesting that I realized today, but first let me tell you how it happened. I was in a bookstore buying a book on APA formatting for school. My teenage daughter was checking out the twilight books, when a young lady walked up to her and started talking about Twilight, and how they are changing their diner into a restaurant named Forks in the book, and that they have People coming from Penn State to act out the scenes .

They went on and on chatting but then when I was cashing out, this same lady started talking to the manager of the bookstore about putting up a poster for them about this BIG event.
This helped me realize that so often we are trying too hard and should consider including the grassroots side effect for our online adventures. Why not just mingle in places where our target audience would be found in the world. Strike up a conversation, put up a few posters and bam, drum up some business while we are at it.

Try not to put all your eggs in the same basket, just like online, get out there and socialize.

Great story/point Maggy,

People often get so caught up in the "online world" that they forget there is an entire real "offline world" that exists.

Get out there people!

Put some flyers up, do some traditional real world marketing... you will double/triple your traffic/sales!!!

This is what I suggest to each of my clients when they ask me "How do we get traffic to the new website?":

First of all, do some "Real World Advertising"... put your domain name on your business cards/brochures, put your brochures/cards at any local location (general stores, grocery stores, banks, anywhere you can leave your marketing material), if you have the budget, radio & tv ads, etc, etc, etc... Not to mention the speed of word of mouth in the "real world"... good news/information travels very fast... even by word of mouth... I bet it's just as fast as high speed internet...

Don't forget about the "Real World"... SEO & the "Online World" are only half of the equation.

Thank you Jared, it is good to see that I am not the only one on this wave length.
