Put your url in the website field only, make a relevant comment, and use your real name (not keywords). The best blogs to get traffic from are moderated (meaning the owner approves individual comments). Spam-like comments usually get caught by the spam filter before the owner or whoever has a chance to approve them. Do it right from the get go. The only other thing I would really add is that, in order to get your comment approved faster, add it during the weekday when you know people are working.

This is a pretty low quality method for gaining traffic in my opinion.

Regardless, you should always put the URL in the URL or Website field so as to not look spammy.

You can be banned from excessively linking your site in blog comments as this is often seen as spam, no matter how innocent the intention.

I don't think low quality is the right word. It's not what will get you viral traffic, but it gets your face out, gets you noticed, great for building relationships which could lead to bigger and better things.

Commenting and being engaged is defitely something you should do, and it takes no more than 10 minutes a day.

    Website Url section.

If you want to put it in the comments section, it has to be relevant. If someone just wrote an article on 7 things you must do before you exercise, the link in the comment has to be relevent e.g.

"Hey this is an awesome article. I especially enjoyed the point you made with number 5 blah blah blah. I've actually written a similar article myself, if anyone's interested: "link"

Here's the problem with generating traffic/backlinks this way- webmasters are so sick of spam from the scum of the Earth, it takes a seriously impressive comment to even have a chance of getting the comment posted on the website. So for every 20 comments you leave, expect only 1 or 2 to ever see the light of day. And if you put your web link in the actual comment section, then forget about it.

So definitely place your link in the URL box and make the name field either your name or your business name. Trying something slick like making your name, "internet marketing guru" for the anchor text is another easy way to ensure your comment will be deleted.

Next, be sure to leave a REAL COMMENT that others could actually gain some wisdom from. First, address the author by name. This drastically raises your chances of getting approved because it shows you pay attention. Then talk a little about the article to show your interest is genuine.

In a second paragraph, give the reader a little more to the story by adding a fact or a suggestion that the author missed. If it's good enough then you may earn a few clicks from readers...but it has to be extremely impressive. At the same time, however, posting something like, "Learn more from my website at www...." is a sure-fire way to be ignored completely....so you can't ask for the traffic. They have to come because you impressed them.

Overall, gaining traffic from blog comments is almost a fool's errand. It's extremely hard to do in 2015 and taking any type of shortcuts will only guarantee failure. You'd be much better off just writing an authority blog and posting it on another site so you control the conversation...so I wish you luck.

    I hope that helped.

Yes, it should be follow! Only relevant comment can give you result. I see some people say, blog commenting is a low quality method, not at all! It is a great method to build good connection with like minded people. It works greatly.

You described well and appreciate your thoughts.
      Definitely very helpful!

I always put mine in the comment itself. Many comment systems that ask you for your website link will automatically create a backlink directly to your site and will use your name as the anchor text. Not a big fan of that.

It's the smart way to place your link on “Website URL field” or “URL field”, It will increase approval ratio. It's the way to get huge traffic, just write big and resourceful comments.

I have had several moderators get very upset with me for putting my url in the comment. While it works in some places, it will often get you banned as stated above. Use caution when you post your URL.

If the site where you are commenting is using the WP plugin CommentLuv, then you will automatically get a link to your most recent article on your site just below your comment, thus no need to add your URL in your comment text.

    Hope this helps.

Never put the URL in the comment, it raises my suspicions about your integrity immediately.

The URL field is there for a reason and is the only good place for it.

As others have mentioned, if the commentluv plugin is installed on the target and your site, then you can direct traffic back to your site and a post relevant to the one you are commenting on.

This may mean you have to be more strategic in your post creation and blog commenting to make these relevant content links

Definitely use the URL field. Otherwise it will most likely be seen as spam.

Yes indeed you guys make some pretty good points and I see where you're coming from. I just feel as if you want to drive direct traffic then people will be more likely to click on a link within your comment rather than your name or the link under it. Different things work for different people in the IM world I suppose. Although I do it differently, I do pay the price for it. I am certain that many of my comments aren't approved by the blog owners for this very reason. I just wish that it was possible to add a nofollow tag to many of these comment systems that automatically generate a backlink to your site using your name. I've just been sticking to Disqus commenting lately for the most part though...The downside to that is it's java and Google doesn't index it

I used to blog comment as a job way-back-when, and through that I discovered a comment has a higher chance of staying on the site without URLs in the comment. It probably depends on the blog of course, but assuming you're posting to high-quality blogs, forget about comment URLs. Filters will weed them out before the blog's owner even sees them.

Instead, put the URL in your user name and refer to it as "my website" or "my blog" inside the comment. Everyone who comments on blogs knows that the avatar or user name points to the commenter's website, so it's not like you'll miss out on an opportunity this way.

ithink possible way is to comment on posts where there are 1,2 comments appearing in last 30 days. This is proof enough that blog owner is checking comments and approving genuine comments.

As long as your input is thoughtful, helpful and relevant with your name and url in the correct fields then your comment will be approved and you will attract attention from people who resonate with your message.

When you think about it getting the attention of 5 people who you can help and do business with is worth much more than getting a passing glance from 50 people you can't.
