Questions for Affiliates/ Sites owners

Hey Everyone,

How do you usually communicate with the company you are working with? (affiliate program/ ad network)
Do you usually just send emails? prefer to skype? or use any other method I can't think of ?(:
And from all of these- what is the most comfortable for you?

Thanks!

If I have a question I email them. Although, I usually have no reason to contact them

This is a really good question. As both an affiliate and as a program owner, I always preferred using the online ticketing system because it left a communication trail. On more than one occasion I have run into affiliate managers moving to another program quickly, leaving a mess in their wake. The online ticketing system lets their successor quickly catch up on your specific account and account history. Email does not do this as an email account and the emails with it do not transfer to the successor. I have also run into this, though not nearly as frequently, as an owner / affiliate manager. A site or traffic source gets sold and the new owner wants to keep the account as is. They can review previous tickets and immediately know the status and account history. If you are a network owner or operator, my one suggestion with the ticketing system, is if it is possible, tie it into your email so that you know when a ticket is created or updated. It is very easy to get caught up in the business of the day and forget to check or keep up with an affiliate's ticket, making them wait longer than they perceive reasonable.

Yes, all of our plugins are kept upto date to work with the latest version of WordPress. We use our plugins on our own site, so it is in our best interest to keep the plugins upto date.

Email is the best way I think. However, sometimes there are some questions that needs to be discussed (for example, if you want to hear a proffesional opinion about what kind of banners might be the most profitable exactly in your website and etc). In this case, the most appropriate way is to reach a responsible person at the company through the email and ask him if it would be possible to arrange a Skype call.
