A Question for You Web Hosting Marketers

I've done some research and what I would like to get started with is affiliate marketing of web hosting companies, and I'll probably do this with a YouTube channel with tutorials on building a website. What I'd like to know, is what sort of conversion rate can I expect to receive? Roughly what percentage of viewers will end up purchasing a hosting package from my link?

Any other tips for getting started in this area are appreciated!

It will be hard for me to tell though when I'm just starting off, because I'll have very little traffic for a while. I just want a rough indicator before I pump lots of money into adwords. Is a 1-2% conversion rate realistic target?

As the username suggests, I run a hosting company, and I would suggest that conversion rates for web hosting are notoriously low. The affiliate payments are almost always quite high, but the conversions are quite low.

We're talking between 1-10% among large companies. And if you can consistently hit 10%, then you're doing really well.

You'll be lucky to get 1 conversion in 1,000.

Yes, some established marketers can pull 1%, but those are people that have been in the business for awhile and have many contacts, promoters, and sales people that help to brand their business.

For someone new in the game, and no established brand, you're going to have to work very hard to be profitable in your advertising. You will need some capital to get any traction.

Be aware that this market is very crowded and cutthroat. There are always sales and specials running and clients bounce and jump all over the place. Ask anyone that maintains web sites how many times they have changed their web hosting during the past year.

      Good luck to you,

      Steve
