Grrrr.... help! Does anyone have a guide to BlogTalkRadio? This has to be one of the most confusing and convoluted sites I've ever tried to work with. I am extremely flustulated and reallllly need some kind of 'overview' of where to find things on this site. Thanks, Marcus |

Thank you Jared. You're a good man, Sir. That site is so incredibly 'cluttered' I can't look at it for more than 5 minutes without feeling like I'm in one of those carnival funhouses with the spinning stripe things going round and round. Warmest Regards, Marcus |

lol Corwin, Ive done about 50 shows, interviewing whores, strippers, sociopaths and military recruiters, to name a few... it was a lot of fun in its earlier days but then it gained traction and started to get more confusing for the newcomers. Good luck, though, lots of fun... just remember, the beginning of every podcast screams, "Blogtalkradiooooo"... |

Agree with you. It's very confusing. Videos helped. Best thing to do is do a few test shows and use it in real life situations.

BizBoost, Thanks. Not too concerned about the intro... I wasn't trying to set up a live radio show, just upload an MP3 of a teleconference recording Becky did. David, found the videos. Just what I needed. Warmest Regards, Marcus |

And I thought it was just me! I'm also looking into starting my own BTR show and am finding it incredibly confusing. Ugggh! I may just skip it and do my own podcast, using Sony Sound Forge to record and edit it. :P Michelle |

Marcus, not meaning to hijack your thread but I have a quick question for anybody who can answer it. I've been thinking of finally getting my own BlogTalkRadio show but have one question on show length. Is there a max and/or minimum running time for each show? Reason I'm asking is because I've listened to shows that after 60 minutes exactly, even though it didn't appear the person was done speaking, the show cut off. So what's the deal with this? Is 60 minutes the max? Is it a requirement? Can you do shorter or longer shows? Thanks. |

Steve, I may have some insight here... seems that it happened with Becky's teleconference. The conferencing service must have cut it off at 60 minutes. So if someone is using a conference call service to record it and then uploading it, if said service has a cut off on the recording time, it could be the reason. Becky will be the first one to tell you that once you get her started she could go on and on forever, but I seriously think that more than 60 minutes to listen to a pre-recorded broadcast is going a bit too long. JMO cause I have no research to back this up yet. Warmest Regards, Marcus |

Steven, I'm new to BTR, but when I was trying to schedule an episode for next week, I saw a drop-down box for the length of your show. The shortest length was 15 minutes. So apparently, the shortest episode you can have is 15 minutes. I didn't look to see what the longest length was, but as Marcus mentioned, you'd probably lose your audience if you went longer than 60 minutes. HTH! Michelle |

Michelle, Nope, not just you. That site is CLUTTERED. I guess as IM'rs we're just used to cleaner, more streamlined sites. Warmest Regards, Marcus |

I really dislike audios and radio shows and webinars generally. Too much time for content received, which could have been condensed into a few minutes of explanation. I prefer no-fluff writing and videos. The upside on live events is the Q and A part.

One of my clients/best friend has a Sunday BTR show for the last 3 years now. I do the scheduling. I'm on east coast and she is on west ... have to constantly finagle with the time differences LOL. You can do a couple of different show lengths. She does 2 hrs for her Sunday shows. And they are recorded in full. |
