If your book is available elsewhere for free you can contact Amazon and they can list it as perminantly free. If not you are limited to the amount of days you can give it away on kdp select.

      1) is there an additional fee as "permanently free" ?

      2) if i give the book away on my website, does that count as "book is available elsewhere for free"?

      thank you !!!!!!!!

No theres no extra fee for perma free.

You could try it on your website but a better option would be to load it to Smashwords. Here you also have a different outlet for your book. Once its published go into your dashboard and report it for price matching.

Make sure you are not in a period of exclusivity with Amazon though as this can cause additional unwanted issues

Can I ask why you want it perma free?

Yep kindle is getting swamped with trash book. You've virgins doing sex guides, the clinically obese selling diet books and people who have never sold a book telling others how to get rich on kindle.

Sometimes i think everyone has bought into the methodology of
      1. Search Google Adwords for keywords
      2. See if there are books on sale on keyword on Kindle
      3. Ask someone else to write you book (but make sure they have a writing age of 7)
      4. Get a cover off fiver
      5. Promote your book for free
      6. Sit back and question why you are not a millionaire

The answer you don't have enough books so go back to step 1.

Honestly I've seen an offer where the seller gives links to books on amazon that he had outsourced. My god if that's whats been put up as a example what the hell else is getting released.

Remember when people released books to say something, to spread knowledge or entertain.

I work in the KDP industry and Three/Four times a year run a weekend on how to promote your kindle book for authors.

Its deliberately not cheap to prevent those that are just churn and burn from attending but the killer is you have to send your manuscript in to be considered for the weekend.

The amount of crap we go through is unreal.

If you list the book for sale somewhere else for free, Amazon can (but that does not necessarily mean they will) price match it. The easiest way to do this in my opinion is to list it free on Smashwords, as Amazon is more likely to price-match it from there than if its available free on your website.

Bear in mind that any books designed solely to send people to a website or different product violate Kindle terms of service and can cause a lot of problems.

If Amazon doesn't price match it, your only option is to put it in KDP Select where you are allowed 5 free days per 90 day term. Of course, this requires your book be exclusive to Amazon and not available anywhere else, including your own site.

    Hope this helps!
