Well if you're talking about malicious traffic, CloudFlare has built in filtering. If you're talking about DDoS, we use DDoS protected IPs.

Ad click fraud isn't a problem for us.

Don't use rubbish traffic sources, track your clicks, prosper202 is good for checking IP's etc.

Most of it comes from knowing who you're advertising with. I would stick to as much reputable traffic sources as possible. You have to have a keen eye about these kinds of things. For example alot of PPC sites are full of crap. That's why you only hear people talk about Adwords and Bing Ads.

This may sound a bit crazy to some, I don't promote my sites on forums, I have found that if someone gets mad at you, they will click bomb your ads, thus possibly getting you banned from adsense and ect. I also have found that, If some one gets mad or doesn't like you, They will use bot software to send traffic to your site. Not Good.

Fake traffic like that is fraud, while violating Google's rules may not land you in jail, inflating the value of a web site with faked popularity may cross the line, defrauding paid advertising with fake clicks is a more clear case of criminal fraud.
