Are Adsense ads based on site content, or page content?

For example, say you have a site about Cooking. Then you create a page about Running. Will the page about about Running display ads relevant to running, or will it show only ads relevant to cooking?

As far as I know Google's ad crawler works on a page-by-page basis, so in your example the page about running should show ads based on running.

However, if you have interest-based ads enabled and the person views topics related to cooking before visiting your running page, the running page could still display cooking ads.

    Something to keep in mind.
