Has anyone tried to compete with so many dirt cheap products on eBay especially those stuffs from China/Hongkong? I used to sell electronic and portable items but stuffs from China ended my business. Many people nowadays are after the price more than better service and delivery time. I just wondered how on earth them sellers from China/Hongkong ever get an income from the stuff they sell as per law of mathematics you'll never get an income from an item normally priced at $5 and being sold at just $1 let alone the cost of delivery which is even free!

I don't try to compete with them. I sell better quality products and offer faster and free delivery. Some people want dirt cheap and they don't care how long it takes to arrive. Those people aren't my customers and I don't try to win them over.

Not everything comes from China is dirt cheap or low quality. You can buy same item at high / low end depend on what you looking for.

High end seller, don't compete on low end products, i used to import from China and re-sell but with quality in mind ( I never sold a product that i wasn't satisfied with its quality )

don't try to compete with them. You'll lose every time. The people who prefer cheap Chinese products over quality ones will never be good for your business anyways so don't get so caught up on trying to sell to cheap people.

If you're really concerned about losing business to Chinese sellers, maybe sell a different product, add bonuses/special offers/promotions to the ones you already sell, or switch to a different platform?...idk it's an unfortunate problem for eBay sellers to have to compete with so low prices...

Pick your battles. Never try to compete on price alone - you'll end up losing every time. There's always someone that will sell it cheaper than you.

^ I couldn't have said it better myself.

This is really the real reason that I never bothered to try and sell stuff on Ebay as my main business as it's pretty competitive right now and chances are that it'll be even more competitive in the future which in my opinion means you're going to have a much harder time making sales in the future.

I've only tried selling high end stuff on eBay and have been successful with it. But, the fees kill me everytime man... They are out freaking rageous. I don't know how in the world you could compete in the area you are talking about.

I compete by buying on eBay and selling elsewhere to people who hate buying on eBay. It works well, since eBay is largely a buyer's market.

I can only seem to tell stuff that people want. It has to be an in demand product. Basic crap won't sell anymore.
