Warriors,

I am trying to conceptualize a website markplace. I have the basics down, but I am looking for some advice.

Is it worth creating a marketplace that is also a social network, something between facebook and pinterest?

The niche I am working in is a hot niche that is only starting to come into the mainstream but I can forsee only getting bigger as the green movement continues.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

      Hiya,

Think you are going to have to have a long sit down and work out a business plan Wireframe, revenue source, USP, audience etc,

Specify exactly what you require down to the dot. Then get a quote for it. All the best.

Thanks all. My site is/will be integrated with FB and Pinterest as will the social network (if I build one that is).

I have my business plan, revenue streams, ect... already, just trying to decide if building a niche social network is worth it as Pinterest already kinda fills that roll for the niche I am in.

    Thanks again,

    Daniel

Sounds like it'd be reinventing the wheel. You'd have to actively promote your new social network to get it off the ground, and there'd be considerable time and effort needed in addition to expense to get it there.

If Pinterest already has the traffic you need, I'd just stick with it for now. It doesn't sound like your own social network would bring any tangible benefits to the table.

"Pinterest already kinda fills that roll for the niche I am in".

That's the "flashing light" that caught my attention. Whatever you've done, planned or focused on, you'd better take care of the statement above before you invest any more time or money. Right now you're going head -to- head and playing on Pinterest's turf. That's dangerous ground. You've got to find a way to separate yourself from the competition.

What "Roll" can you provide or offer that Pinterest hasn't filled? That's what you must find and focus on.
        For example:

        What can you ...
        • Do better or more of?
        • Make more convenient or easier to do?
        • Do faster?
... Than Pinterest or your other competitors?
        -or-

What negative(s) or disadvantage(s) can you eliminate?

That's your ticket to admission into the game. Your U.S.P (Unique Selling Position).

If you can't answer at "least one" of the above questions (or more) you'd better have Pinterest money, marketing muscle and credibility to compete. If not, you'll just have a nice expensive online hobby.

    supply and demand.

Not sure what you mean about creating a marketplace. You want to go where the money and competition is.

Having a website is just housing your product so to speak. You need to maybe have multiple versions of your website targeted your different traffic sources.

Maybe test with a little free traffic then invest. It's criticle for business growth to be able to set aside a budget for your business.

Whatever you're thinking of, i'm willing to bet that you aren't the first person on earth to think about it - or TRY IT.

Any way it goes.... if you want to make money easily online so that you can set your own hours and spend more time with your family (or yourself for that matter)........ follow the simple blueprint that people talk about on this forum everyday.

You don't have to create anything new or revolutionary. If you WANT to, that's fine.

If you want easy money.... go the ebook creation route or Clickbank affiliate marketing route.

I agree to a certain extent. There are so many ways to win at this game by emulating those trailblazers before you and then putting your own twist on it.

That being said long term progress in our Society is dependent on people like this who do want to reinvent the wheel.

      Just an saying

Thanks for the help with this. I already have sooooo much money invested, I feel like it might be too late. I am basically creating an Etsy for a niche they don't cover.

I do have some great ideas based on your responses so again, thanks for everything.
