Is Starting Multi-Product Reviews Website A Good Idea?

Hi warriors,

I'm planning on starting a multi-product reviews website, however not sure what are the future obstacles or problems running it.

The product would be ranging from health, fitness equipment, home equipment etc. I also planning to do some reviews on digital products too.

Can someone tell me what are to expect and maybe give me some recommendations on this matter.

I appreciate your responds. Thanks

Start with one and then expand. For example, you make a site about cell phones, then include tablets and then laptops and then desktops and so on. Sort of like targeting a macro-niche. Just make sure the products are not too far apart because that makes it look non-authoritative.

Multi-product review site will involve hiring expert writers in different niches, that is, if you want to create a good quality site.

Find as tight a niche as you can. Don't review fitness equipment; review treadmills. Don't review kitchen equipment; review toasters.

Then review a lot of treadmills or a lot of toasters.

There is a HUGE amount of competition in the product review niche. Much of your competition will be sites that have established themselves as experts or authorities on the type of products they review (e.g. professional photographers who review cameras). Unless you have some unique credentials or can somehow make your site stand out from the thousands of other sites doing the same thing, you'll have a hard slow ride to get established.

Try to find a single niche that is very specialized for which you can establish a foothold as an authority, and provide reviews that are different/better or more useful than those of your competitors. Then, when that niche seems to be taking off, take on other niches. This won't happen overnight so you'll have to have extreme patience and be willing to keeping working on it when success doesn't appear to be coming any time soon.

You Can't put this all in one blog or website. It will distract user interaction. I recommend you to stick with one at a time. This will increase your site site credibility and of course help you get targeted visitors.

Also, it would be important to keep up with all of the products, making sure that the information you supply is accurate and up to date.

Hey Afiqfikri Daud, I had the same plan. I and one of my friends started a blog on various product reviews. We had experience with hard work, we did strong keyword research, we had good experience with marketing any product and drive traffic to any website. But, this time, it was much more difficult. There were/are millions of products and you cannot compete with other people if you do not have a good source of visitor. You cannot compete with other people on Google or any other search engine if you do not have strong knowledge and experience.
Competition is different for different types of products. For example, you can find very high competition in Web Hosting, Insurance etc. niche. However, there are some other niches those are comparatively less competitive than those.
Therefore, from my personal experience, I would suggest you to start with a particular type of product. As mentioned by Craigcmatthew. Build authority and trust factor so that you can implement affiliate links and get sponsored posts. Thereafter, you can expand your review blog.

I will chime in and support those above to advise you to narrow the niche - the example about toasters was a good one essmeier!

The trouble is not in getting affiliate permission, or in creating a site which looks great - the trouble is traffic. The keywords you want to target are buyer keywords "(product name or category) review" is hugely competitive because of this.

You might have better success with video marketing in this instance - if you can master ranking Youtube videos and build a channel with authority, then appearing high up in Google search rankings for these kinds of keywords will be easier. You will also stand out over all the sites which don't use video to review their product category.

Starting a multi-review products site is a good idea but you have to keep the site updated often with review articles.
