Hello People.
Id like to introduce myself, i am Diana, i live on the outskirts of reading, nr london, england.
Ive had a horrid couple of years, first losing my husband and recently my job.
I have a toddler so work away from home is difficult, especially since i would need to commute into london on a daily basis.
Id like to try my hand at something online, but im just not sure what would work, i really am stuck to be totally honest with you.
Would anyone be so kind as to just give me a few minutes of there time to give me some ideas on what i could look at.
I really am not asking you to make money for me, i am a hardworker and i want to learn and to try, but there is so much information here that i have kind of gotten lost amongst it.
What should i be looking at, or disregarding?
i appreciate any time anyone can give me.
yours
Diana

    Hello Diana and welcome.

    Basically you need:

    1. A Product 2. A Place to sell your product. 3. People to buy your product 4. Collect money

    1. You can find products to sell for other people at places like Clickbank. Once you get there it is all pretty self explanatory on how to sign up to sell other people's products.

    2. A website can be used to sell products online. The easiest websites to start off with are blogs. You can get a free blog at Blogger. It too will be very easy for you to setup and use.

    3. Getting people to your site is the most difficult. It is called "Traffic" and like I said it is the hardest part of making money online. But there are plenty of ways to do it.

You can look at finding free ways to get traffic like "Article Marketing" or having your blog get a good listing in the search engines like Google. This is called "SEO" Search Engine Optimization. Or learning how to set up your site so that the search engines like it and give it a good rank.

There are many other ways to get traffic but you should probably do a search at the top of this page between "New Posts" and "Quick Links" under "Search" and type in "traffic". This will search the forum for all of the threads related to traffic.

You will soon see that you have plenty of options for going about getting it.

But before you do anything else, do some searches on "where to start" and look at some of the other threads with posted answers that will give you more information than the basic stuff I mentioned here.

    Again, welcome.

    Matt

    Hi Diana,

I just want to know what was your last job about? and what are your assets - what are you good at? so, i was thinking, that maybe you could start offering services, like maybe graphic designing, virtual assistant?? etc.

Hi Dianna - sorry about your news.

I'm from just outside of Northampton but now live down under.

Matt M's advice was excellent. For any newbie, try affiliate marketing...just google it a few times - but don't spend forever as there are mountains of sites. I can't really add too much more that Matt M has said.

    Best of luck.

    Hi Diane

Nice to see someone else from Berkshire UK.

There are many routes you could take. You need to know what you are good at and how computer literate you are. This will affect what you do.

I am a writer and I made some money writing for other warriors. I no longer do that because I am too busy writing for my own websites.

You might have other skills that you can offer to make some quick money.

Long term however you need to make a plan of how to run your own IM business that is reliable and brings in a reasonable income month by month.

The warrior forum should help you get some idea of what you can do but hold on to your money until you have a plan in place. Then buy only what fits into your plan. (You might not need to buy anything!)

    To your success

    Kenj

      Hi Diana,

Welcome aboard! Top marks for picking yourself up and jumping on board. I'm not too far away either - a couple of miles North of Oxford, UK. I'm getting thing's going now, after a 2-3 years of learning the basics of IM & website publishing.

WF is a great education and community

      Cheers

    Hi Dianna,

I guess with kenj entering the forum, Berkshire is taking over! No seriously, his advice was excellent. If furniture is still a passion for you, you could look to either write articles on this topic or look to sell other people's products (affiliate marketing). Just type in "furniture plr" in google and you'll see that you can use other people's materials. This will give you a gentle introduction into affilate marketing and private label rights (PLR).

Oh by the way, even though I grew up in Northampton, I'm now a Kiwi - so we mustn't mention the rugby last night!

    Good luck!

    Hi Diana

Start off with Adsense this is where you can make a passive income. Setup a website in a popular niche like weightloss include articles in your website then place the google ads on all pages of the website. Now you want to get some traffic, submit the article to ezines with your link to your webpage, then go to Squidoo and hubpages and build a review about your site, set up memberships with all the social websites like facebook, twitter etc and write reviews about your site this will bring traffic. Once people click on your ads you make money.

    Regards
    Barry

    P.S nice photo!

      Hi Diane

Furniture as a niche gives me a whole load of ideas.
It is good for a number of reasons.
      • High ticket price for items
      • Good Adsense earnings potential
      • Most people do not have a clue about how to "Dress" a room. you could produce an ebook/video on how to furnish a home.
But if you want to leave that niche because of the reasons in your OP there are plenty of other opportunities.

    Diana,

I've sent you a private message with a couple of recommended reading links. These lay out a dead-simple approach that absolute beginners may find easy and doable. Not my articles, by the way, but very good (anyway). To find your message link, look in the top right corner of this page right under where it says "Welcome, Diana22"

And by the way, welcome to Warrior Forum. I've found the folks here to be incredibly helpful and supportive.

Cheers from warm and smiling Thailand,
    Charles

    Hey Diana,

    welcome to the forum.

First, try figuring out what are you best at? You're the only
one who knows the answer to that. Then you will be able to move on.

I've been so busy i completely forgot that i'd wrote this.
Just to say thankyou for your help and advice that has helped me to now generate an income online.
It is a tiny income but it's a start.

So what did you do Di?
I followed your advice. I looked at my various interests and decided on one that does bring me alot of joy. I researched my niche but found it to be very saturated so i drilled into the niche and found a micro-niche that gave me options.
One particular keyphrase was getting 1k visits per day and the competition looked relatively easy to conquer and so i found my objective.
The site took me about a week in total to build, embedded my affiliates and proceeded to promote.
Indexed within hours, page 2 of the search engines on day 2.
To be honest i was expecting commission to come rolling in almost immediately but it was slow. Week 3 seen my very first sale but from that point onwards sales have continued to increase.
Am i earning enough to live on? NO but it's the best damn job i've ever had!
Now i just build sites after exploring niches and leave them to run on autopilot collecting ad revenue.
so a big thankyou to you guys for the push i needed.
