Default PayPal eChecks - No Way To Stop The Damn Things?

Does paypal allow you to stop accepting echecks?

If they do I can't find the turn off button. This is getting insane. 15 fraudulent orders this week from echecks.

I have received tons of those too and there is no visible way to turn them off.

The problem is, some actually do go through and are legit.

I have not had a problem with echecks...yet. Though, I don't imagine I'm doing nearly the volume with them that Allen is lol

My Account -> Profile -> Selling Preferences -> Payment Receiving Preferences ->

Block the following payments:

I mentioned before how I hate e-checks.
When I was in the eBay business it seemed that a lot of the time all the scams and bad feedback were from people that sent e-checks.

I also haven't found the turn off button.

Allen,

After you log in..go to "Profile" and then "Selling Preferences" and towards the bottom of the page you can "block e checks" but you can't block echecks for ebay purchases..

Hope that helps.

Carol

Thanks. So it's ebay that is the culprit

Sean and Carol - you beat me to it.

But at least with eBay payments, you can wait until the eCheck clears before sending the goods.

Why block when you can just hold out and wait for it to clear?

I believe the scrip Rapid Action Profits will hold a persons download until the check clears.

You may want to check on that, but from my understanding that's the case.

PayPal's IPN will send an "Uncleared" message, which allows you to not fulfill the order. When the payment clears, PayPal will automatically resend the IPN with a "Completed" status. Same with refunds and reversals - which is what I love about PayPal.

If you don't want to reprogram to work with eChecks, follow Sean's advice to refuse to accept them. I do, but I also have it trigger an email indicating that when the eCheck clears, the product or service will be delivered.

Thank you Sean!

If that had been a snake it would have bit me. Never thought to look under profile for some reason.

But their help section should have returned some result on this. I typed in everything I could think of.

Anyway, it's a done deal now.

Thanks!

Allen

Holding an order isn't an option with WSO's or the War Room, and that's where all the fraud orders are coming from.

I don't know much about them, but I do know that Paypal issued one for me (and I had a balance in Paypal, too!) because the credit card I had on file had not been updated with the new expiration date. I did "catch" this during the transaction, but I can imagine that a lot of people might miss it.

This "credit card" is actually my debit card, which my bank issues a new one every few years. If I hadn't caught on to the fact that Paypal had my old expiration date, this "echeck" might have come back as "fraudulent".

Just my own experience...

Darn striaght!

That's what I do when I use PayPal on eBay and the buyer knows it as well. I tell them right in the auction listing.

Allen, this is your forum. I have no problem with you turning off e-checks for WSOs or for access to the War Room.
